Which Will Be The Better Game?
0
A better game or a better fighting game? two different things you have there.
In any case Tekken is superior, MK games were never designed to be big on gameplay, it's what I like to call a novelty fighting game, whereas Tekken is a traditional fighting game.
With that in mind hardcore fighting fans with go for Tekken 5 every time, and general fighting game fans won't want a fighting game that's disguised as a 3D version of Midway arcade Treasures.
Which leaves MK fans to buy it, which is about 10% of fighting game fans, 5% of general gamers.
As a game Tekken 5 is better, sales wise Tekken 5 will do better.

LOL, I'm sorry but Mortal Kombat is still one of the best selling fight game series (thats not even taken into account that its gonna be on 3 systems for Deception). Tekken can have as deep gameplay as they want, but that doesn't mean its gonna be more fun then MK:D. I had alot of fun playing DA, even though it had some flaws (which I'm glad to hear are mostly fixed), so I know I'm gonna have a blast in MK:D.
When will people get it through their heads that deep gameplay does not neccessarily equal fun. Virtual Fight 4 was a deep fighting game, but I got nowhere near as much enjoyment out of it as I did in any of the MKs.
BTW- FLSTYLE, You make it seem like Mortal Kombat doesn't sell good. If that was true, then why did Deadly Alliance outsell Soul Calibur 2 and Tekken 4?

Really, it did? Do you have proof to back up that statement? (not trying to flame you, just curious to know if this is true).
As for which one will be the better game, it depends on what you mean;
Fighting enigine, graphics: Tekken 5
Atmosphere, story, characters: Mortal Kombat
In the end, I'd choose MK over Tekken because it's got a higher fun factor.

1. the thread clearly states which will be the better game, not which will be the more fun game.
2. if you happen to have more fun with the current MK games then that's fine, but I prefer solid gameplay over anything else, hence me having more fun with Tekken games than MK games.
3. prove your point about DA's sales
4. which country was that in? because i sure as hell know DA did not outsell Tekken 4 or Soul Calibur 2 here, and diffinately wouldn't have done in Japan (the home of gaming

MKD will own Tekken Based on the fact that MK:D is of course "more fun"

Since the general goal of a game is to have fun, I would say the better game is the game that is more fun.
Tekken has some terrible characters. Damn near embarassing actually. I can'tget into a game where I laugh at my stupid looking characters.
MK could win on that aspect alone, with a one button controller and no Dpad.

We all know which the better game will be. Fact-wise, it will be Tekken 5. Unlike MKD, Tekken 5 actually focuses on what fighting games are supposed to. When the genre of a game is overshadowed by things not pertaining to the said genre, it is not in that vein of genre anymore. What genre it is depends on the percentage of content that overshadows the original genre. In MK's case, it should not even be an RPG, like I used to state. It should be a party game, along the likes of Karaoke Revolution and Dance Dance Revolution. It having a gameplay mode that lists several fighting styles that do not even resemble that of their real-life counterparts should not be considered fighting game material. Why it is still labeled as a fighter is beyond me. Super Smash Brothers Melee is more of a fighter than MKD. It actually has a well-working fighting engine.
This is an MK site, so most opinions will be biased. It may be your opinions that MKD is a funner and more involving game, but it is fact that Tekken 5 is the better game, and it is my opinion that it will be funner than MKD. The atmosphere in T5 is taking a darker path, from the storyline and level designs to the character models. Some of you say it's a graphically updated T4. I'd rather not explain the whole amount of engine tweaks and changes that have been discovered for T5 currently, but from what everybody who has played it is saying, it plays like a much faster Tekken 3 & Tekken Tag. Move properties have been changed around for several characters, weakening some stronger characters and strengthening weaker characters, to provide balance, and engine tweaks such as the Crush System have been made, and what does MKD have? 30% faster movement, Guard Breakers which leave no disadvantages to the user if used, more moves and projectiles (Which are arguably useless in the 3D realm, the way they are implemented in MKD), and more fighting styles which still have the same playstyles as all the other styles in the game.
This thread will lead to an obvious flame war in a few moments, so it would be best for this thread to be closed. It has been made several times to exhaustion, and no matter how the thread is worded, the outcome will be the same. This is an MK board; what the hell do you think the majority of the responses will be?
Most of these posters are, and will always be fanboys, so responses will always be strongly biased toward one side. Unless you want to create a universal fighting game message board in which these kind of issues can be discussed on even grounds, it is a waste of time and energy to post something like this here.
By the way, aesthetics aren't everything.
