Who missed The Choose Your Destiny? And should the Alliances be a part of it?

posted07/05/2004 11:27 PM (UTC)by When I was playing MKDA I missed the choose your destiny screen. I remember a while ago when someone brought up a pic of fallen "towers". So then I was thinking wouldnt it be cool if they brought back the choose your destiny and as like a hidden or secret thing you get to fight on those old towers and maybe bringing use to those hidden characters in the prison stage. Ok thats a lot of stuff but take a deep breathe and collect yourself and place your kind words here THANK YOU!!!

I agree with you but I don't think midway have any ideas of bringing it back.

I liked how you could rotate the towers and "randomize" the opponents and their fighting order. Then again, I also liked the "rotating globe" of MKDA, asthetically-wise. Who knows what MKD has in store for us in that department.

I liked the towers way better than MKDA globe. The globe was done poorly in my opinion.
I wouldn't mind seeing them again, maybe a new feature can be added, by pre-selecting caracters and randomizing them, then you can select them in old fashion by rotating the towers.

I actually got bored of the towers, it was nice the change.
I think this time, a style of road-way labyrinth should be made where you are obligated to fight 1 of a certain numbers of characters they give you, you can walk your wait towards victory.
Im too lazy to explain.

I liked the MK1 Battle plan the most. The towers I didn't care for ,but I liked the background with the crooked towers. It reminded me of a ruined city with destroyed skyscrapers.

Queve I am interested in what you are saying.
I am not sure if this is what you mean but it's kind of what I'd like (as an alternative mode - NOT the only story mode):
You are presented with 2 paths. Depending on your alliance and who you choose to fight, you can travel down the righteous path or down the path of betrayal.
For example You are good, say Nightwolf. If you choose the righteous path you will fight fighters of the opposite allignment (evil obviously) and win the tournament for the side of good.
If as Nightwolf you choose the path of betrayal then you fight fighters of the same allignment (fellow goodies) and effectively change your own alliance by the end to evil.
If you are fighting as an evil character it all works in reverse, no real explanation necessary.
If you are Neutral in the beginning like Scorpion then you still choose the right way or the wrong way, good or evil, etc.
This would be a fantasy story-telling mode, seperate from all the other modes and only containing "what if" conclusions. It's not meant to be taken literally. It's just meant to be a fun sidequest, perhaps an unlockable reward.
It could be accompanied by the voices of Lord Raiden (trying to persuade you to take the righteous path) and the DK (persuasion towards the dark path).
Perhaps who you kill or spare could have an effect also. For example as Nightwolf you kill Ermac. As a result the sub-boss fight could be against Kenshi and opens with a sequence saying how he will take out bloody revenge upon you. He would be tougher than usual.
Another example as Sub-Zero you spare Mileena and at the end when you fight the DK, Baraka repays you by running across the screen and slashing the DK (taking a little of his lifebar away before the fight) then thanking you for sparing Mileena and leaving.
There could be multiple scenario possibilities just waiting to be unlocked if you choose the result that unlocks them.
Just a thought.

I loved Choose Your Destiny more than the Globe. The Globe reminded me too much of Street Fighter 2's select screen.
Here is my idea to make the Towers even better.I think if you win 20 times in a row and your moving up the ladder,I think the tower should crumble and drop giving you 2 choices. Those choices are:
Continue your Quest(finish beating the game) or Fight one of the Dragon King's soldiers(if you win you will be rewarded with a surprise and resume back to beating the game).

I made a thread about that suxiam i think it would be cool to do that. But then you would need a boss for good side and bad which would be cool but I think they won;t do it. But ur path should depend on who u pick I agree but between the towers and the globe there both cool i like em both equally but the globe was new so I think they should have it where there are a couple of globes u can pick like they did with the towers. You know like Beginner novice Hard Champion etc... but with the globes.

AWESOME! First the character specific fatalities and now this! I'll add on to that. If you are good and turn evil, the good fighters will be much harder to beat. The same for evil turned good characters. Also, the ending bosses would be different. If you choose a good path, you face the DK at the end. If you choose the evil path, you fight Raiden in the end (if Raiden isn't playable, don't wanna pull an MK4 in Deception). I mean, it would make no sense if you were evil and fought the DK in the end right? I always found that a problem with MK.

Great ideas man! I made a thread on this idea a long time ago but it was nowhere near as detailed or well explained as this. It'd be great if your ideas were put into the game. The alignments need to play a bigger part in game than they do.

Thanx guys you are all too kind.
There have been others who have said similar things so I can't take all the credit. It's more a collection of good thoughts by various people thrown together.

I didn't read all the posts here, but what if they combined the choose your destiny with the globe, or something like it.
1 = you choose your fighter
2 = you choose your opponents or number of opponents like the towers.
3 = Then you are taken the the globe or something like it and the character list you chose is who you fight.

The reason i really liked the globe thing was because it showed a lil pic of wat arena u where fighting in, but im sure they can do this to with the tower. For example, wen yur going up, theres cuz be a pic of the arena yul fight in. And instead of just having the pic of a face, they shud have a bigger pic of the character, but in a fighting pose from waist up....(like the vs pose)

that sounds really good!! especially coz as someone said, the alliances at the moment have no meaning, at least now they are useful and not just part of the story!

I agree the evil guys should fight a powered up Lord Raiden in the end, preferrably in a background with thunder and lightning cracking everywhere.
The good should of course fight the DK.
But depending on the chain of events (ie who you do or don't kill). A cool cut-scene showing your nemesis being the sub-boss for this mode should apply.

Yeah those are positivially exquesite ideas you guys. Keep the ideas coming. Buts its unfortunate with the time constraint I think it would behoove them to impliment that idea in the next MK to perfect it and not half ass it like MK4 and MK:Annialiation lol.
I really miss the towers!!!...anyway I personally didn't like the globe. However I think it would be a good idea to bring the towers back and when you are at the tower you could have a picture of the arena where you are going to fight in the background, in a kind of blurry way. So that way people can see their the arena where they are going to fight. Although if the arenas are in the background in a blurry way, they can still keep the whole picure in a "dark" look. I am sorry if my Idea is really Dumb!!!.
