HardToExist Wrote: Sorry but PS2 online just sucks. I will be playing xbox live instead. Just because they let you play for "free" doesnt make it better. It drops your connection all the time, very bad lag, and you even have to buy adapters and all that junk just so you can play where as xbox comes ready to go.
My connection on PS2 is very good. I rarely get dropped. When I do, it is my isp and it has nothing to do with the server or which system I am on. Meaning.. my lag and my connection are no worse on my ps2 than they are on my computer. And there is only one adapter... it sounds like you are trying to mislead others into thinking that there is alot to it by saying "adapters and all that junk." All I had to do is screw the adapter in the back of my ps2 and plug my modem into it(the same way you'd plug your modem into a computer, it is not that complex).
HardToExist Wrote: Sure you have to pay 50 bucks for a year for xbox live, but its definately worth it as opposed to having to pay monthly for just one game like ps2 does.
As, stated in an earlier post. Can you name one MMORPG for any system/computer that doesnt require a monthly fee? The only monthly fee games that I know of on PS2 are FF XI and EQ, which have to be paid for monthly even on a computer. Any game that is not of the said genre, I don't pay monthly for. On that note, can you name any game on PS2 that has to be paid for that is not of the said genre?
HardToExist Wrote: Xbox owns, just face the facts. I'm not dissing on all of you ps2 owners out there, at least you didnt get a gaycube. But you need to admit that xbox is the better system. Thats why developers make games on the xbox and then port them down to ps2 (i.e. Splinter Cell, MKDA & MKD, etc) and thats why xbox gets all the good stuff like more choice on artwork with the special editions and junk. Its just because xbox can handle more than a ps2. But anyways, yea, i'll be using xbox live. sorry ps2 owners, just trade it in for an xbox and youll be happier.
Xbox's specs are better. The processor speed is faster and it has slightly better graphics, but I'm not trading in my PS2. I'd lose the ability to play alot of the games I love... Tekken Tag/Tekken 4, VF4 Evo, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo, Final Fatasy X/XI/X-2/XII(when it comes out), Kingdom Hearts, and Socom. Plus many, older PSONE games that I own. And now that I have the hard drive, I am really looking forward to some new, downloadable Socom II maps that are on the way.
I am in no way trying to advocate a console war. I'm not saying anything bad about xbox. I like all systems, even the gaycube(as you call it), but I get sick of hearing all the "xbox owns" statements, and all the bashing done toward what I believe to be a good console. You don't like it? Fine, but there is no reason to come into a "Who'll be using PS2 Online?" thread and start talkin' about how the xbox is better and the ps2 sux... especially with the misleading statements about the performance, the adapter, and the price of online games on the PS2.

I'd play online if/when I get a network adapter. Until then, it's all single player for me.

I will be playing MK:D online on my PS2... But I'm not online rigth now, I went before my class to see if I could buy an adapter or whatever you need to play online but nobody was there to help me ( NO ones there when You actually need them)... I was wondering if anynone could tell me what I have to buy and how does it work, I have cable connection and I also have cable TV but my cable with my modem for my internet connection is upstair in my room but the TV is downstair... so can I plug the cable that I use to wacth cable TV directly on the adapter ( or the PS2 modem?) with a spliter and be able to play online or is it more complicated then that..

I'm playing on PS2 Online, but I'm just logging my name first before anyone else takes it, then I'm practicing for about one hour with Baraka, then it's straight to giving everyone a whoping online.
As for the poster who said you have to buy the network adapter for PS2 and everything, it's only $40, that's cheaper then one year of Xbox live, plus you only pay once, then never again. PS2 Online doesn't disconnect you, ISP's do. Some games that aren't MMORPG's still need payments, plus the yearly fee, so PS2 owns, Xbox suks, end of discussion.
Back on topic, be ready for me all you PS2 online users, cuz I'll be ready.

You just have to buy a Network Adapter, which sells for 40 bucks.
It's pretty easy to set it up. You just take out the Network Adaptor, take out that slot on the back of your PS2, and screw the Network Adapter in the back with a coin (It's all explained in more detail with pictures in the Adaptor's Manual, but it's so easy, you might not even need it).
Then you plug your ethernet cable into your Network Adapter, turn on your PS2, and register it/change the settings, and you're ready to go. It is really easy.
