Nintendo is comprised of three Japanese words. Nin, Ten, Dou, and when combined it means we kicked the holy shit outta Atari.

Why do so many people have this crazy idea that MK is all about secrets and unlockables? It's just plain not true. MK is about FAKE secrets and unlockables. In MK1 there was Reptile. Ok. But did Ermac really exist? Not quite. Just a glitch. In MK2 the secret characters were pretty obvious considering they looked at you in the forest. But was there a Kano morph despite the evidence? No. MK3 had Smoke who wasn't exactly well hidden considering the extra spot on the character select screen and the ultimate code after a game over. Anything else? No. Same goes for the three extra spots and ultimate code in UMK3. This trend continues through MK4 and MK:DA where there was no Noob running through the krypt, the time in that picture with Kenshi's glass eyes didn't mean anything and there was no final secret. What the hell? Why does everybody have this idea that Deception is any different? When was the last time that any secret in MK was so well hidden that it took a lot of effort to find? Never. Even Reptile would talk to you every now and then in MK1. The fact is, Ed Boon saw what happened with MK1 and MK2 and thought, "Hey, this stuff works! People think there's more when there isn't! YAY!" Now you have people running amok with these random items in konquest and this random location thinking that if they do this at this exact time this will happen and finally after this and that Rain will be unlocked. WTF? The most complicated secret in MK history was the requirements to fight Reptile in MK1. Ever since then there has never been a secret that wasn't either completely obvious or totally fake.
Now people are getting mad because there isn't anything else. What did you expect? What reason did you have to believe that there would be? People say that Deception should have more secrets because MK is about secrets but it's not. At least not the kind of complex secrets people are looking for.

I guess I agree with you. But I guess it's that mysterious side of MK that makes us think that there is something else that is completely random in the game. I dunno, that's what I think. Oh yeah, besides the fact that we were told before the game was released about a certain SU, so people automatically think it's another character, simply because they are not happy with the characters in the game. I think the SUs in the game are unlockable arenas and characters. Maybe it was Lui Kang .
Peace.
Peace.

I like to have everything right in front of my face right away.
I don't like having to wait or waste time looking for things.
The type of secrets / rewards I like are the challenge ones like in MK1 and MK2, but something quick like get a double flawless or like the missions in Virtua Fighter 4 E.
Something like Beat the game within a certain time limit is good too.

Exactly, Bleed. Those are the kind of secrets that MK did do in the past. But even if Reptile and the others were secrets, they were revealed in different ways by either saying some cryptic message before a round or looking at you from behind some trees. And there was the question mark block in MK2 and the extra spaces in MK3 and UMK3. MK has never had a secret that was so well hidden you wouldn't know where to start looking and I'm thankful for that. I hate things that are impossible to figure out or require a lot of tedious work. So why do people think that MK is actually about doing crazy things? Look at the discussions about Konquest and it's really strange why people came to these conclusions that such things are part of MK.

I agree...

Not me. I played MK for the fighting. I really could care less about secrets or "super unlockables". Sure I am hoping for some secrets characters for Deception , but if there aren't I dont care. It won't change my opinion on Deception ( not so great one), nor any other MK game in the saga. Overall people crying over the MK team not giving them secrets or telling them their are secrets in the game is pointless. Like or dislike the game, it is a fighting game at 1st, and it should be looked apon a fighting game like or dislike about it.

I think alot of people expect it because it was one of the first games that had some really interesting secrets, and they continued on with putting them in for awhile. I like it either way. The newer fighting system is pretty nice, even with some major and minor glitches in it, and the fact that they in my opinion stayed somewhat loyal to the original characters, including a good majority of them in each game.

Nice post. I've been saying that again and again for some time.
We were never handed the answers before, so why do people expect it now? Guess some people just don't realize this isn't any other game, or don't realise what it's always been. Maybe the people who are are little new to the series just aren't familiar with it or it's "heritage", so to speak, and are used to the way all these other games go about the issue of "secrets" or "unlockables".
MK was never about secrets, it was always about the possibility of secrets, and violence. Lots and lots of violence.
