The media can blame Mortal Kombat for violence when children at school tear ripping each other's heads off, spinal cord and all. Until then, it's the parent's fault.

MK:D will not make the news in Canada because we are much too intelligent to be shocked by a harmless video game. Which is more than I can say about many Yanks...
As for Hockey, don't worry. Canada will win the World Cup and its honor will be avenged.

Eh, it will definately be banned or atleast toned down over here in Australia. Manhunt was released edited to shit with half of the gore cut out, and was eventually banned anyway. GTA3 was toned down, eventually banned (I think). MK:D will be released toned down, and probably get banned eventually.
Not that I give a fuck, I don't even own a console. That, and one of my mates is getting the US version burnt as soon as it's out, so no problems here with it being toned down. Even if it does get banned, I'll have a copy of it to play whenever a PS2 is at my house, as far as I'm concerned bad luck to everyone else (not my prob).
I still think banning games is pathetic. Really violent (not to mention realistic looking) movies are never banned over here, yet a game with cartoony graphics that couldn't possibly be looked at as realistic probably will get banned? My arse...

That's why I abandoned all hope for the country in which I was born (I'm Australian-born).
It's pretty logical that piracy is a booming industry in Australia. Mod chips for consoles must sell like hot cakes...
The Nazi government that Howard runs is to blame for this shit. Get rid of it !

How did this get on the topic of banning? I thought it was about MKD getting on the news as the most bloody game of the year. Yes it will make the news somebody is going to call the news and show them how terriable MKD is. Then a week later you won't hear about it again. I am a Las Vegas, (Boogie Man) And the last time I saw mk on the news was about five days after MKDA came out. They showed parts of scorpion's fatality and talked about other fatalities but did not show them. I never heard anything after that. I want to record it so I can play it on my video game movies I make. Oh well back to the grind. DSB

Just to make sure, everyone that is planning to buy mortal kombat:deception, DO NOT CONCENTRATE in the fatalitys or the blood because you never know fighting does allot of things.

I sure hope the game makes the news.
I hope no one does a Hara Kari to himself.
I hope no one tries to do Fatalities with his friends.
I hope the game makes the news and shock the world once again.

All games cause Controversy i dont care how rated E something is there is always talk..This game is rated mature which means nobody under 17 should play this game if they do its there choice....the m rating tells you its not proper for anybody under 17...there is nothing to say about it...if parents complain thats all they can really do there kids shouldnt be playing it...Im all for the hari karis it adds a twist to the game and is something different i can understand people might be disturbed about it but hey like i said earlier if you cannot handle it maybe you shouldnt get the game...and im sure with the strict court we have this game will probably be banned with all the people that complain....im going to wait for the europe edition i have a europe edition ps2 box and im sure the europe edition will be much better then the american version

There's a possibility but there are alot more violent games out there. Manhunt crossed the line Mortal Kombat is fight to the death. Fatalities are a well thought out ritual not random senslessness. Besides Mortal Kombat is still more fantasy than reality. It's harmless fun.

What the hell is an 11yrold doing playing a Mature game and why are his parents so irresponsible they can't explain to him the difference between reality and fantasy.
People who try to ruin harmless games like MK piss me off. Raise your Kids better and stop being so Hypocritical. It's A GAME, FOR MATURE AUDIENCES NOT KIDS.

I just want to say that people who claim that 10 year old kids shouldn't play Mortal Kombat because it's a "M-rated game" are HYPOCRITES.
Who are you to judge what the MENTAL MATURITY of a 10 year old kid can be ? There's 10 year old kids out there who have the mind of a 16 year old, as well as there are 16 year olds out there who have the mind of a 10 year old. People have always told me how I'm extremely mature for my age. I've been playing Mortal Kombat since I was 8 years old ! Did anything bad happen to me ? HELL NO !
I think that parents who don't let their kids play "M-rated games" are retarded. If you're not intelligent enough to understand that a game is just HARMLESS FANTASY, than you should have your kids taken away from you. It's your responsibilty as parents to teach your kids the difference between reality and fantasy, and if you think that your kid can't handle it, than you are underestimating your kid and giving him complexes, so might as well give him to more worthy parents. I urge any kid who is cursed with such ignorant parents to complain to Child Protection. You have the RIGHT to play games, and they will only prod that controller (as Charleton Heston) FROM YOUR COLD, DEAD HANDS !!!
Besides, the ESRB was created for lazy, fat, white American parents who don't have the mental capacity to educate their children and have to rely on a worthless black-and-white label.

We got to accepet that MK is no longer the shocker it was in it's early years. Back when MK crossed the line into uncharted areas of voliance and gore. MK:D won't be on the FOX news as the Voloinent game. As much as I want it becasue it'll bring back old and turn on new players. hey we no got best volince but got best game!

Scorpion_Ninja987 Obviously you're parents have taught you the difference between right and wrong and you can be sensible about it.
However there are a lot of morons out there who can't take responsibility for their own actions and need a scapegoat.

I believe it might. We all saw Manhunt get blamed cause some jerkoff killed someone and the police found the game in his house.
MATURE: means if your under 17 you need your parents to give you permission or by them thereselves. So when parents blame violence on video games and there kids are under that age, then whose at fault? If you can't teach your kid fantasy from reality then you don't belong being a parent at all. Iam tired of hearing video games getting all the rap when movies are made that are so much worse then video games and its more real.
With the addition of the Hari Kari's I can see it on the news as some kid commits suicide 1 day and his/her parents walk in and see MK:D in his/her PS2/XBOX. That's about all I can see MK:D being in the news for. Games like Nightrap(Sega CD), Manhunt, GTA series, parents and poilticans are gonna look at those and blame then instead of pointing at themselves.

Maybe the Hari Kiri's (Hara Kiri) will make the news but everthing else will run smooth over here in Australia.
