I hear it's returned.

How will it affect the current engine?

In the 2D world it was used extensively with the spin jumping of all characters. In MKDA this was not present.

Therefore, will the same type of jumping also return?

If yes, I'd say the gameplay will be dramatically different.

If no, I'd say uppercutting could still have a big effect but maybe not AS much.

Still, combine uppercutting with combo breakers, some new unseen styles, some changed special moves, some changed combos and I think the gameplay will differ greatly from MKDA, although the overall engine will have general similarities (eg 3 styles).

Other thoughts?

I just hope the uppercut isn't super-powerful and doesn't become one of the few moves you'll use in the game. I just don't want it to turn into an older MK game where uppercuts were basically all you needed to beat the CPU.

I think the uppercut was brought back mainly for the purpose of being able to knock fighters through breakable ceilings...so I think that's why it's back. However I don't see why it was needed...all characters in DA had at least one pop up move that would serve the same purpose.

Also I wouldn't worry to much about it being TO powerful. It was a very powerful tool in the 2D games, however these games did not offer things such as sidesteping or reversals...So while it is in and will be used, I don't think it will be out of control and cheap like in the 2D games.

I think they brought it back for nostalgia and popular demand reasons. I don't see it dominating the game, with the 3D moves and the utter lack of an air game.

The characters just don't jump high enough for it to be an issue.
