You are absolutely right. I see all these threads about getting rid of Kitana and Sonya etc. but I don't think that I've seen even one about getting rid of Sub or Scorp and why is that? because it's unthinkable to have an MK game without them that's why. So it should be for Kitana and Sonya as well.

What makes me mad is when people say Kitana's story is always lame and boring .. Kitana was connected to more character's than any other in Mortal Kombat and has contributed tons to how the plot of Mortal Kombat has moved forward:

Sindel (Mother)
Rain (Friend)
Jade (Friend)
Reptile (Sent to Kill Her)
Mileena (Sister / Rival)
Sheeva (Mother's Protector)
Shao Kahn (Killed Sindel and Took Kitana as His own)
Liu Kang (Her Love)
Goro (Alliance)
Kung Lao (Alliance)
Tanya (Daugher of Edednia's Ambassador)
Shinnok (Captured Her and Edenia)

Seriously, I don't understand how people can say that. Recently, it seems everyone has it out for Kitana and I just don't understand where it comes from.

In regards to Sonya, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, etc .. Sub-Zero is really the only one that I remember changing somewhat.

Scorpion is always neutral and escaping from hell for one reason or another. Sonya is always trying to Kill a red dragon member. (Kano, Jarek, etc). Johnny Cage .. UGH .. won't even go there.

With all that said .. I still am glad to see Scorpion, Sonya, Sub-Zero, Raiden, etc. all return because I still think they bring something to the game after all the time they have been a part of it. It's like playing street fighter with No Ryu, Ken, or Chun-Li. Even though their stories haven't changed nearly at ALL!

On a final note with Kitana .. even when she hasn't been in a game .. she ALWAYS has been a part of the story! So to those who say her story sucks, I think you need to recheck the history of MK. She has added more depth and helped to create more characters than any other MK character in the series.

i get mad also when people say Kitana should die too she is also one of my faves and its true kitana has had a lot of people involed with her and she helps make some peoples story

You may in fact be right .. I'm not an extreme follower of Sonya .. So I can't quote all of her stories .. but they were generally the same up until MK:DA .. Like I said I think Sonya should return, but not because I think she has a good spicy story. Because Like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitan .. she is one of the classics. I think fighting games suck when those familar faces aren't around.

And I'll admit that you are right about the previous games. In those ones Sonya was all about the Black Dragon and especially Kano. But now that they have started that agency like someone said there are lots of different ways to take the special forces story with new threats from other realms. Because the investigation agency is a look out post for threats from all realms not only outworld.

Well .. I can only hope Ed Boon comes up with something orginal this time around for her. As well as something for Kitana that takes her in a new direction (This is in fact if either one makes it into Deception).

Personally, I don't think Kitana or Sonya will be in it.

Cage is the only one without a real story line. Either give him a storyline or get rid of the guy for good. Kitana on the other hand has had one of the most dynamic storylines

Well my good man, the answer is simple, SCORPION AND SUB-ZERO ARE THE TWO MOST POPULAR CHARACTERS IN MK HISTORY

Seeing as they're only bringing back 6 people from MKDA, I don't think we have to worry all to much about repeated storylines. I just can't wait to see what they cook up for all the returning classics.

Agreed.

I think one of the biggest problems with Sub and Scorp is that they are the main characters, which audience choose. Now, we know Liu Kang was the main character, but we all hated him. So, the audience wanted Scorpion and Subzero, even though Midway never really acknowledge it, publicly!

The second reason is that this game is predominantly a male oriented game, and playing as a girl is ackward to many guys, including me. (no sexual remarks here).
But having girls in the game is very important.

To the topic.

If I had to get rid of few characters they would be Johny Cage (useless, very boring characterO)
Movado ( a mistake from the start)
Milena (looks almost the same as Kitana and Jade, just different colors, seems to me like an excuse more so than a real decision)
Noob Saibot ( cool as an extra code, useless as a character)
Sonya and Jax ( really no purpose)

The guys I want to see back
Kabal
Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke
Baraka, Sheeva, orig. Subzero, Shao Khan (as a normal fighter)
and ofcourse very intriguing, DragonKing ( Reptile, I think that they called him Dragon King at the end of DA)

Personaly I don't like Kitana.If she is not in I don't care.If she is in I'm fine with that.I would much rather see Frost or Nitara return instead of Kitana.I think she served her purpose and should die or something.Scorpion still has unfinished business with Quan Chi.Sub-Zero has Mavado and Sektor to worry about(mabye Frost?)Also I don't like Sonya either do if she's killed I also wouldn't care.

Most of the characters are building to something. A lot of them have developed but you just don't take the time to look. Raiden, for example, changes in every game. First game very litte was known. Most people assumed he was some kind of monk. Seocond game it was known that he was a thunder God. Third game he couldn't take part because of his status. 4th I'm not sure what he did. 5th he stepped down as Thunder God to help Earth Realm. 6th? Well, we'll just have to find out.

There are a few I'd like to see developed though. Namely Cage... to be honest cage has gotten less and less cool every day. I mean when he first started he was some 21 (or so)year old kid who wore sunglasses and hightop shoes and threw hopped up basketballs and knew martial arts. He was the epitomy of what was cool for the time. Now that he's gotten older he's become that 30 year old guy who wears cheap, out of date sunglasses all the time and instead of seeming original and edgey he comes off more stale and like he belongs on some old womans soap opera. So... pretty much the only development has been his image and it's "de-evolved". It'd be great if all of his movies bombed or if he got married or if SOMETHING happened to him.
