hi ya i was just thinking would you like the fights to be set out in story for each character ?
cause i always thought it was a tiny bit weird like for example sonya has to fight jax or any other good guys fighting good guys, so for an example
kitana could fight
scorpion
ermac
noob saibot
baraka
ect ect
and her sub boss would be mileena or something
and the final boss which is the dragon king
see what i mean ? would u like it set out like that ? or do u like to fight just random people ?
just wanted to know :) lol

yeah i feel the same way, there should be a story arcade mode for this. If im sonya and jax is my next opponent, (in mkda) then i just select a different character or quit the match.

I've always been saying this. I definiely think its a bit strange that friends and allies are fighting each other to the death. My idea was always that good characters should fight neutral and evil, neutral should fight any, and evil should fight any(since there's never any loyalty in evil). Characters who are important to your character's storyline...whether as enemy or ally...should be dictated in gameplay. If you have an enemy, you should fight him/her. If you have a friend, you shouldn't have to fight him/her. But they won't do that anyway.

Yeah, but if it's actually a tournament format, which is the structure of the game even if it's not as much in the story anymore, then everyone fights everyone. That's it.
But, if you wanted the story to take prescedence, then I think that your idea is good. In fact, I'll take it one step further. Characters should have story battles. Like you said with Kitana: Mileena being her sub-boss. I think that there should be cutscenes before fight. In fact, I think that there should be about two cutscenes for every character. One for their rival (they could call it the vendetta match or something) and one before the DK.
This way, we actually get a sense of what's going on in the game storywise, instead of just finding out how the last game ended in the following game. We get a more complete picture I suppose. I know, some people will whine about this taking more memory, more time etc etc. But I just think that it would be a cool feature as far as the storyline is concerned. We've always known what has happened to characters, but we've never seen the battles in which they die, confrontations, storylines evolving throughout the game. It's just some background and then their possible ending. That's all.
BTW, I know that Boon and co would probably never do this, but I think it'd be sweet!

I think people would take more interest in the story if it were incorporated into the game. And shang_heihachi makes a good point about good vs. evil and neutral, etc.. Someone else mentioned that the ending could vary depending on how you progress through the game - whether you kill or spare a certain character, etc.. But I don't know how else story elements can be introduced into arcade mode without it becoming too predictable. Ex. I thought playing story mode in DOA2 was boring because I'd play the same characters over and over. But with 24 characters in MKD I guess this won't happen.

yeah a small cut scene would be cool like in DOA 2

I definately think so too, they should have an intro to each character before the first match, then after each fight have them say a couple of phrases then half way through there is another cut scene, and then you have a sub-boss depending who you chose and then you have your ending after the boss. I would really like that. But even though you fight the good guys with other good guys or bad guys with bad guys.i still like fighting against them. So im kinda unsure.

They should really just rip-off Soul Blade's adventure mode. Unique objective, unlockable crap, and tons of storyline based stuff made it an awesome experience, and I think that that is what MK needs to boot Namco off the top of the fighting game ladder.

I agree! Good guys should only fight neutrals and bad guys and bad guys should only fight neutrals and good guys. The neutral characters should fight everyone although if you only play as a certain character, you only get to fight the same people over and over. Therefore, you lose out on practice against others.
Cut scenes and intros would be perfect on this game. Scorpion appearing in a burst of flames and Raiden appearing amidst thnder and lightning would be great. Cut scenes would show the characters talking a maybe some parts of a fight between them.

I would like a Story Mode and an Arcade Mode. While I really like the idea of a story mode, it would be repetative after awhile. Its fun to fight random characters once in awhile. Thats why MKD needs both options.
