XBOX Live Connection Problems

Im having problems connecting it. I doing a direct connection. I have a 12 Month Starter Kit for XBOX Live and got the Online gaming Kit that brings 2 RJ-45 Ethernet Cables just like the site says.I dont know exactly where to put the cable tho. 5 minutes ago I found a spot to put it in and it didnt work. I tryed trouble shooting and it says "Check Cables" With an "X" Next to it. The rest dont have an "X". And on that same screen it says 'XBOX Live not found" How do I find it. Please help.sad

If you're actually using a direct connection, all you have to do is get the cable that goes from your cable-modem to your computer, disconnect the end that goes into your computer and connect it into your Xbox. Reset your cable-modem, turn on your Xbox, and you should be all set.

OK. I got the cables connected but now the IP address has an "X" next to it. Where do I find the IP.

you might have to put the IP addresses and DNS servers in manually which isnt that hard. If youve got windows XP just go to start, connect to, show all connections. From there find the Connection that you will be using, right click it and click on status. Then hit the support tab and then hit details. Just match up what it says there with the XBOX. I cant connect to XBOX live because AOL has to be a bigger bitch than rosie o'donnell.

Thanks alot Kintaro6980. Now the only thing I need is DNS. I says "DNS not resolved" with an "X" next to it. Anyone know where to find that.

The very first time I TRIED to connect to Xbox Live, I remember that my IP, DNS and another info didn't show up. Thing is, I hadn't reset my cable-modem (despite the fact that Shingo had CLEARLY told me to do so; sorry pal sad).
So do like I said before: Plug the cable into your Xbox. Make sure the Xbox is turned off. Reset your cable-modem and once that is finished, THEN turn on your Xbox. All that info should show up.

I just tryed it MKSECRETS. It didnt work. Now does any one know where I can find that.^^^

Anyone. Please hurry. I must play MKD online.
Follow instructions
Make sure you took the cable from the computer, not the modem.
After pluging it into xbox, unplug modem and replug. Wait for everything to go on.
If that doesn't work call your ISP and ask for help... or

It doesnt work and xbox.com has no info i need. Can someone just tell me where to go in my computer like Kintaro6980 did in telling me where to find my IP address. Just tell me where to go to find the DNS. Unpluging it hasnt worked. Everything works except the DNS thing. It says "DNS not resolved" when I troubleshoot it. If u go to settings on the XBOX and go to "DNS Servers" Its says "Primary DNS" and "Alternate DNS". I need to fill those in with #'s. Tell me where to get the #'s.

NOOOO. Thats why I put it in the General Discussion Forum. No one goes to the XBOX Live Forum. 5 hours later i still dont get help and im 2nd from the top
