Think you can do better than Boon and Co. in writing the storyline and coming up with characters for MK6? Let's see yours then! Come up with a story and a rough character lineup. Here's mine:

In MY own little imaginary MK6 universe, things would be violently different.

The story picks up right where MKDA left off. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi succeed in resurrecting the Dragon King and his army. Raiden and his small army are powerless as they tear through Earthrealm and its Heavens, ruthlessly murdering Raiden and the Elder Gods. Princess Kitana, whose Edenian realm is left wholly untouched by the Dragon King, grants entry and sanctuary to the Earth warriors and as many surviving humans that can make the trip. (FYI: To arouse no suspicion about if one character is another in disguise who was presumed dead, here is a list of characters dead up to this point in my MK mythology: Raiden, Bo’ Rai Cho, Li Mei, Frost, Reptile, Jade, Rain, Ermac, Sindel, Tanya, Kai, Jax, Cyrax, Mavado, Hsu Hao, Nitara, Moloch, Mokap, Johnny Cage, Mileena, Baraka, Fujin, Shao Kahn (see? He and Reiko ARE different people), Liu Kang, Motaro, Sheeva, Stryker, Nightwolf, Sektor, Smoke, Goro, Kintaro. Anyone it seems I have forgotten is NOT an accident. And in my little world, NONE of these characters are going to magically ressurect themselves.)

Here, they prepare for the horrid battle that lies ahead of them as they attempt to destroy the Dragon King.

Characters, New and Old

The Good:

Kung Lao: As Princess Kitana consoles him over the loss of the Earth Realm, a burning rage boils beneath his sorrow. The Deadly Alliance has taken everything away from him...his master Bo' Rai Cho, his friend Liu Kang, his mentor and protector Raiden, and finally, his only home. While on Edenia he crosses paths with the nomadic Shokan mage Mortankas. Mortankas claims to know the location of an ancient relic that was crucial in the creation of the Earth Realm and may be able to bring it back. Armed with the power of hope, he fights to destroy the Dragon King and recreate his home.

Princess Kitana: Trying to take it upon herself to save the Earth Realm, the distraught princess realizes she has made herself a key part of the destruction of the Dragon King. As she fights alongside Kung Lao and Sub-Zero, she remembers the deal that Kung Lao made with Mortankas, who is the only one who knows of an ancient relic that was pivotal in creating the Earth Realm and may be able to restore it. Keeping this in mind, she subconsciously fights for the hope of the relic’s use to ressurect Liu Kang.

Sub-Zero: Escaping from the destructed ruins of the Lin Kuei temple to Kitana's Edenia sanctuary, Sub-Zero blames no one but himself for the destruction of Earth Realm and his life's work. If only he had followed the debilitated Smoke's advice and been more wary of Frost's ulterior motive, he could have stopped the Deadly Alliance. He fights not only to free all existence from tyranny but to redeem himself for the death of billions that he pins upon himself.

Blind Kenshi: After his escape with Cyrax, Sonya Blade and Jax from Outworld just before Kung Lao, Sub-Zero, and the rest of the Earth warriors battled the Alliance, the Outworld Investigation Agency members, including Kenshi, attempted to create a Earth-bound plan to destroy the Alliance. Using information about Portal Orbs gathered from the vampire Nitara, they devised a trap that would banish the Alliance to the Netherealm by trapping them in one of their man-made portals. Little did they know that several Red Dragon members, including the traitor Hsu Hao and his superior Mavado, had escaped with them. As Frost betrayed Sub-Zero in Outworld and the Earth Warriors began to lose their grip over the Alliance, Mavado and his team began their vicious attack on Sonya and her men. Jax was murdered on the spot, and soon after Blind Kenshi noted that a bomb was in play. Alerting as many he could find, he escaped the building before everyone inside was incinerated. Only he and Sonya escaped alive. Now in Edenia, he prepares to exact his revenge and aid Kung Lao in discovering the relic that could recreate Earth.

Sonya: Owing her life the rogue Blind Kenshi, she resides with Kitana and Kung Lao, attempting to devise a plan that would destroy the Dragon King. After her near death experience, she trusts no one but Kenshi, Kitana and Kung Lao after her experiences with the traitorous Hsu Hao and Frost. She fights bravely at Kenshi and Kosoh’s side, prepared to die for him as she hunts still for the ridiculously elusive Kano, who plans to use the relic for his own evil purposes.

Spyke (new character): Carlton Spykes, or Spyke for short, was a top CIA agent for the government. Vaguely affiliated with the Outworld Investigation Agency, he knew much about Outworld, The Deadly Alliance, and knew Sonya and Jax. His last assignment was to rendezvous with the OIA members returning from Outworld after the Alliance was defeated, but on his way was attacked by a twisted, deformed creature wearing a mask and carrying a club. He found himself in Outworld, and when he first woke, saw the last stages as the Dragon King was reborn in Quan Chi's lair. A portal opened and the collection of Outworld beasts escaped through it, including the creature that attacked him. He escaped through it as well, joining forces with the Arimun beauty Larina, and soon found himself in a terrorized Earthrealm. He stood, marveling at the destruction when they were approached by Princess Kitana. She explained what happened and they both set off to find Sonya Blade and return to Edenia, where they would fight the Dragon King.

Larina (new character): The Arimun race had long been oppressed by Shao Kahn. The Arimun were a proud and mysterious race, beautiful aquatic creatures whose mesmerizing cities lay deep beneath the murky seas of Outworld. They are slender, blue-skinned creatures, who personify beauty in a peculiar way, although they are in actuality mutants derived from fish by the sorcerer Shang Tsung. When Shao Kahn was killed, the Arimun thought they would be free from his tyranny, but he was only replaced by more vicious rulers: The Deadly Alliance. Lirana is an assassin sent to destroy the Alliance, but she arrived minutes after they summoned the Dragon King. Joining the estranged CIA agent Spyke, she followed them to Earthrealm, where they learned of the Dragon King and joined forces with Kitana to destroy him and free her people from tyranny once and for all.

Kosoh (new character): A great number of Kitana’s army stay to help the wounded millions that escaped to Edenia, and another great part lay butchered in the streets of the Earth Realm. Kitana saw it as pointless to send her army to be slaughtered, and inevitably they would. So she appointed her general, a tough, middle-aged man named Kosoh, to fight with her. Although Kosoh is generally unfamiliar with Mortal Kombat circles, he almost immediately befriends the emotionally tormented Sonya and aids her in fighting off Kano when he attempts to infiltrate Edenia. Knowing the threat that he poses, he decides to make him his official target in addition to protecting Kitana so Sonya can utilize her efforts to destroying the Dragon King.

The Bad

Shang Tsung: After a rapid rush of events after the hasty retreat of the Earth warriors, Shang Tsung finds himself imperial ruler of Outworld, ally of Quan Chi and the Dragon King, and general of the Dragon King’s unstoppable army that marches across Earthrealm, destroying everything in its path. Bad thing is, Shang Tsung is gaining enemies .and if his eternal greed is not satisfied, he just might gain one that he may not be able to defeat in his ruthless quest for power.

Quan Chi: Quan Chi’s hatred and jealousy of Shang Tsung had never stopped, not even for a moment when the Alliance was made. To him, Shang is weak and cowardly, and his lack of honor and his lust for greed infuriated him. As soon as he gains power over the Dragon King, Shang Tsung will be his and so will the rest of the world whether there’s anyone left alive in it or not.

Drahmin: After defending the Alliance from the fiery wrath of the helldemon Scorpion countless times and aiding them in resurrecting the Dragon King, Drahmin was promoted much higher in the King’s hierarchy. Now General along with Shang and Quan, he directs military as well as performing important assassinations and missions. After he tipped off Mavado to destroy much of the OIA and proceeded to imprison the CIA member Spyke in Outworld, he sets out to perform the next thing to make the Dragon King invincible—destroy the relic that has the ability to restore Earth, and kill the Shokan mage Mortankas.

Kano: As the battle between the Alliance and the Earth Warriors raged in the main part of Shang Tsung’s palace, the ruthless thug Kano planned to avoid the trouble and capture the fleeing Sonya Blade and the other OIA members. Unfortunately, Kano was detained in the Palace’s massive underbelly when Scorpion attempted to enter the palace. The Oni sentries (Moloch and Drahmin) fought bravely, and Kano joined them only so he could pass through to Sonya’s portal before it closed. After Scorpion killed the Oni Moloch and Drahmin escaped to alert Quan Chi of the intruder, Kano quickly evaded Scorpion by tossing him into the Soulnado. Although Scorpion was not killed, but he was instantly immobilized and allowed Kano to see Sonya and the other OIA members escaping through the portal as it closed. By the time he could return to the main part of the palace, the Dragon King had been resurrected and they had already left for Earthrealm. Kano was stranded in Outworld alone for days until Drahmin returned to Outworld with some unconscious human. Drahmin battled Kano, calling him a traitor for not aiding the Alliance in the Earthrealm attack. Drahmin soon found Kano too much of a threat and fled, leaving Kano to secretly follow the human and a strange fish woman back to Earthrealm. After learning of the Dragon King’s destruction and news of the relic after trying to infiltrate Edenia, he quickly set his mind toward gaining control of the relic and creating his very own twisted version of Earthrealm leaving the entire human race in deadly danger of his tyranny.

Reiko: Reiko, was, of course, the main and most dangerous follower of Shinnok in his attempted invasion of Earth in MK4. But when Shinnok was overthrown by the ruthless Quan Chi, Reiko was tossed into and uninhabited desert plane of the Netherealm and left for dead. But he wasn’t dead and the realm wasn’t uninhabited. It was populated by a race of invisible godlike creatures called the Unseen. Although intangible and thus powerless in combat, they were followers of Shinnok and took pity on Reiko. They gave him the knowledge and the power to learn how to ressurect his dead master. That power lied in the bowels of Shang Tsung’s fortress, which was constantly guarded by powerful sentries like the Oni Drahmin. To gain entry to the palace, Reiko would need to kill Shang Tsung. The Unseen gave Reiko the impossibly high-tech superhuman-cyborg Khalille, who would infiltrate the palace and ressurect Shinnok while Reiko kills Shang Tsung and anvenges his master’s death by murdering Quan Chi. If he succeeds and brings Shinnok back stronger than ever, with the combined power of Shinnok, the Unseen and their automations, and Reiko himself, the Dragon King will be the last thing the Earth Warriors have to worry about.

Domingo (new character): Domingo was a mentor, trainer, and great friend to Liu Kang before MK1. He was a monk of the Order of Light and was actually asked by the Order to accompany Kang during the tournament. But weeks before he was supposed to leave, Domingo simply disappeared. Disappeared, in the context that he was kidnapped by the power-hungry Shang Tsung and imprisoned in the dark, stinking bowels of Shao Kahn’s Outworld palace to improve the odds of Kang’s defeat. Domingo, being sharp-witted and noble, murdered the plethora of guards around his cell and searched the dank underbelly of the palace for an escape back to Earth. He wandered the underground maze for days until he crossed paths not with escape but a terrifying sight—Shang Tsung’s Soulnado, the twisting, seething mass of tortured souls, all living the rest of their miserable existence in eternal purgatory. He attempted to flee, but many of the souls, desperate for escape, dislodged themselves from the Soulnado and into Domingo’s body. Hundreds of them clamped onto his brain, leaving him completely possessed by the demented, hostile, and insane souls under Shang’s power. Shang now controls Domingo as he does the other thousands of souls of his defeated warriors. He is Shang’s personal bodyguard and a fierce warrior, able to destroy anything that he crosses paths with.

Blaze: The burning fire elemental Blaze had been a prisoner and slave to the Dragon King for centuries, being forced to protect the fragile egg of the Last Dragon to ensure the King’s safe resurrection. When the Dragon King was indeed reborn, Blaze could still not escape his autocratic rule. He now lifelessly slaves as the Dragon King’s personal guard, assassin, and melee warrior. Blaze has no choice to serve him and the Alliance. He hopes to overthrow the Dragon King and free himself from his rule, and his only hope lies in the people he is forced to kill, but so desires to help. He prays for solace, and the sweet hand of death to take him away from his hellish life (I know this one seems kind of boring but in his ending that I might write later there is a huge backstory that relates him to Scorpion and Novah that I don't want to give away.)

The Ugly (Neutral/Unknown)

Scorpion: Scorpion failed at his attempted revenge upon Quan Chi at the end of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. He was nearly destroyed at the hands of the Oni demons Moloch and Drahmin, and when he nearly defeated them he was tossed into the base of Shang Tsung’s Soulnado by the coward human Kano. Any human in Scorpion’s situation would have instantly been killed. But as we all know, Scorpion is no ordinary human—in fact, he’s hardly human at all. The power of the tortured souls treated him as a brother, one more lost, tortured being in a sea of thousands. Although Scorpion was severely burned and injured by his brethren, he was actually given a massive boost of power. He was blacked out for several hours, his appearance drastically changed but still recognizable, but the whole time he had a strange dream In his dream, a woman, dressed in skintight black, stands in a void of white. She smiles at him, and begins to whisper “You are the key. Free yourself. Find me, and you may rest in eternal solace and unbind yourself from the prison from whence you came.”
Scorpion looked at the woman, who moved nor breathed. “Who are you?” his booming voice screamed. “What do you want of me!?”
The woman smiled again. “I want to tell you a secret. I wish nothing more but to whisper in your ear.”
The darkness dispersed. Scorpion woke, marveled at his transformed and suddenly more powerful body. Then, he set out once more to destroy Quan Chi and find the mysterious woman in his dreams, and discover her deadly secret.

Khalille (new character): Khalille is the technological marvel given to Reiko by the mysterious Netherealm gods called the Unseen. Although she is artificial intelligence, she different from Cyrax and Sektor in every way. She is made of synthetic fibers that nearly exactly replicate human tissue, so she looks and feels exactly like a real human. She was given to Reiko as an assassin to infiltrate Shang Tsung’s palace and ressurect the dead god Shinnok. She is very intelligent but can only make decisions and plans base off what she is told, and thusly very easy manipulated. Kano, Reiko, and Kung Lao constantly attempt to change her mind, hopefully attempting to sway her beliefs and ideas so she may aid them. Who will win this prized creature to do their bidding?

Novah (new character): Little is known about this black-clad, Netherealmic beauty. She is powerful and enigmatic, but rarely speaks and shows no desire for anything in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Her existence would not have been known if she had not appeared at the very end of MKDA. Just after the Dragon King was resurrected and the Deadly Alliance and Blaze followed their new master to the destruction of Earthrealm, she was discovered by Drahmin lurking the palace’s labyrinthine underground. When Drahmin asked her what she was doing, she replied only that she searches for “the key.” A vicious battle ensued, and Novah fled after hearing the approach of the rogue Kano returning to Outworld. She now follows the Dragon King on his path of destruction through Earthrealm, in search of her mysterious goal.

I'm working on special moves, fatalities and endings for my characters, as well as secret characters now. I'll post them in a day or two.

Shang Tsung and Quan Chi revive the army. They are on a high stone mound overlooking the army. Out of nowhere, the amulet is magically riped off and it floats up into the air. They turn around and and look up in absolute terror. They can't believe their eyes when they see Shinnok floating in the air with the amulet in his hand. He's in a more human looking form. He's really pissed off at Quan Chi for killing him. He says that Quan Chi will pay for what he did to him. First he would like to introduced the new and improved Shao Khan. The Emperor floats up to Shinnok's side. His armor is polished silver and red metal and laser sharpend spikes. It's all in the same shape and stuff like before. Anyway, he floats up with his eyes glowing bright red. He's furious at Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Meanwhile, Raiden and the others are hidden, watching whats going on in terror. Nitara opens a portal back to Earthrealm and they leave. Shinnok tell Shang and Quan how (by being an Elder God and all) he regained his power and took over the netherelm. He also told how he gave Shao Khan's wandering soul physical form. He did all this during the Deadly Alliance tournament. (Back to the present time) Shinnok blast the mound that they are on, but the two jump out of the way before the fireball hits. Shinnok then sees the army and commands it to kill the sorcerors. They use their powers to keep them back temporarily. Quan Chi opens up a portal and rushes to Shang Tsung's abandoned island. Raiden goes to the Elder Gods and begs for them to use their powers to revive Liu Kang. The Black Dragon, Special Forces, Vampire people and other rivals set aside their differences for the time because they know that they don't stand a chance against both Shinnok and Shao Khan alone. Raiden goes off and Finds those from previous tournaments. They need all the help that they can get. Raiden informs the Elder Gods of what has happened. They decide that they will help to protect earth againts the new ruler of the netherelm. Waiting for the right time, the Dragon King waits to either take side with Shinnok and Shao Khan, or wait for their possible defeat and retake his army. Thus begins Shinnok's and Shao Khan's thirst for vengence.

I felt kinda sorry for it, so I thought I'd give it some new blood.
