SO... I was thinking about when i was in elementary school, when i herd the world was going to end in the year 2000. This was back in 1992. I remember being so scared.
Anyways, the year 2000 came, and the CPUs didn't break nor did the sun exploded or any of the things that people said will happen.
Then they said that June 6, 2006 (6/6/6) the devil was going to come up from hell, and take over the world or something like that? Were is the devil?
Then 2012 the world was going to end because the myan calendar ends on the 26th of December. we r still here
2013 was a for sure thing... Well we r still here.
So, I have 2 questions.
1. What is the next doomsday date.
2. What is being said will happen?

"The world will really end the day people will stop sayin' that the world will end".
On a more scientific note...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olduvai_theory
2030 is a reliable date for the end of civilization, rather than the world itself.
I don't think a meteorite or a prophecy will end the world, but just lust for money and the end of oil reserve, without a proper eco-friendly alternative.

My friends told me about a meteorite that's going to come very close to Earth's orbit later this year (February i think). Brace yourselves: don't forget the seatbelts.
All i know is that on 6/6/06 and last week i celebrated by having apocalypse parties and got very wasted both times. This next time will be no exception (YAY!)

According to the wonderful scientific minds of Futurama, the world won't end for quite some time. In the meantime, humanity will be nearly destroyed by giant carrots. Then we will be enslaved by giraffes.
There's a lot of things wrong with end-of-world theories.
1. The Mayan calendar did not predict the end of the universe, just the beginning of a new age. Just as our calenders "reset" on January 1, the Mayan calendar begins anew every 13 years.
2. Y2K did not predict the destruction of the planet, but the possibility of a technological crisis.
3. As for 6/6/6- well, there's been a lot of those dates, and the world never ended. It didn't end on 6/6/1906, 6/6/1806, etc.
Will the world end? Eventually. I think humankind will perish long before the planet does, especially if we don't figure out how to use our resources wisely. Someone else on the thread mentioned fossil fuels running out, which will happen, but I think the world's water crisis will be much worse.
