I'm not sure how many people appreciate end bosses that has a variety of transformations... As well as you fighting them with one life bar.

Eternal Champions

As in this video here, this boss has a variety of different transformations you must beat in order to complete the game. And I believe you must do so in one life as well.

Other times, you get your life filled up after you defeat a boss. Such as some of the challenges in the MK Tower.

But, do you guys actually like fighting bosses that has a lot of transformations on one life bar? Or do you guys appreciate your life refilling after each round or whatever?

And this doesn't necessarily refers to fighting games, it's mostly other games that does this.

I like having a challenging boss at the end of games. If that means changing forms a bunch, so be it. I hate when I play a great game, get to the end, and beat the boss in less then a minute. I find myself saying, "Really was that it, really? The mini-boss on level 4 was harder than this!". Although there have been many bosses called things I can't repeat here because of how difficult the bosses are.

I'd prefer that over Uncharted 3's NO boss. Lame.

But yeah, I like games with a challenging end boss too.

I like a challenging boss. My best example of a boss that changes form is House of the Dead 4. The last boss is insane. I also like Shao Kahn in MK3. Not impossible but at times can be difficult.

I honestly don't really care about what form the boss battle is as long as it's fun.

Depends on the game.
In fighting games I dont want a boss with 1000 forms and 1 health bar. Then its a huge pain and whatnot.
In a game like Zelda, where after a loooong quest you finally fight the boss... yeah! make it super challenging and make it feel like the true end of that gigantic quest. Its very rewarding, and unlike fighting games, if you lose all ur lives u dont gave to start the game over, u just start from last save.

A good example would be Gruntilda in Banjo-Kazooie. Damn that witch had more forms than a rubix cube! first she threw fireballs, then homing fireballs, then quickballs, then you had to fly after her, then awaken the Jinjo statues by feeding them eggs, then the BIG jinjo statue... talk about ROUGH!!!

But thats only good after a long quest or adventure game. Frankly, too strong a boss on a fighter is just annoying.

It depends entirely on the game. If it's like Donkey Kong Country where you only get 2 hits, I appreciate the DK barrel appearing between phases. If it's a fighting game, I think I prefer a single health bar as it causes you to be more cautious and strategic.

I like difficult bosses, just not the ones that are so frustrating and cheap to the point you don't want to play anymore

I like a challenge, and something that is not over in like 4 seconds. Malebolgia in "Spawn: In the Demon's hand" was a huge Let down

now This is a final boss. This guy made is look easy. Trust me. back in the day, it wasn't.

Isaac Frost from the last fight night is an incredibly hard boss to fight. But the challenge makes the victory so much sweeter. In Fight Night you can only get up about four times after being knocked down. And you will go down quite often and can only beat him after round 8. It's an extremely strategic boss battle.

But as for a boss battle that wasn't difficult but a whole lot of fun was God of War 3s Poseiden boss fight. That was fun and probably the coolest boss battle I've ever played.

i like my bosses a little harder than normal. i don't like them on hard and don't care for cheap bosses. it kind of different depending on the genre of the game. some bosses are fun but to easy but then there are bosses that make you want to quit the game.

some of my favorite bosses are mephisto in diablo 2,salizar in re4,jazu in kofx1,hydra in gow, many more.

bosses that made me mad were magaki in kofx1,i-no in guilty gear, demon hunter in warcraft 3 frozen throne and many more. those are really hard.

So as long as they're not incredibly motherf-ingcheap but still has a touch of toughness, possibly 1-2 morphs, they're okay?

Or should they have more than three kinds of morph?

A challenge needs to be a challenge. It shouldn't be something where within the first try you basically destroy the thing.

It's like taking a level 85 killing a level 5 critter. It's just a ridiculous one-shot-er.

Final Fantasy bosses seem like a pretty good basis on how I like my bosses.
FFVII: Helletic Hojo(Heretic)

FFX: Lady Yunalesca. She scared me, especially her 3rd form.

I like both changing, and unchanging bosses. It depends on the game, and how it fits or is implemented. Sometimes an epic challenge is fun.

Shang Tsung, various Zelda bosses, changing forms, changing strategies.

It can be annoying if you're caught by suprise, and haven't saved in a while.

If you're wondering why Yunalesca scares me, I dislike things going through walls/ground, like game glitches & Star Trek scenarios(see Voy ep where copy ship melts). I also hate genetic freaks(see movie Leviathan), and merging with inanimate things(see Wrath from FMA). I mean, you're trapped fighting a demon in an alternate dimension, space/asteroid realm. If that was really happening, I would freak right the fuck out. *shudders* The only thing that scares me is the breakdown of the laws of physics.

I like early Resident Evil bosses. William Birkin probably had the most transformations. His last transformations were a pain in the ass to take down, but I enjoyed the battle. Never a dull moment.

I like end game bosses that cap a memorable game off with one last equally memorable battle. Most games don't have that. Super Mario World and Pokemon Red are the only ones I can think of right now that do have memorable final battles.

Anyways, I'm fine with final bosses having transformations. Most of them do anyhow. But man, there is nothing like that sinking feeling when you finally defeat a boss after using all of your items and all of your magic just to see the guy get up and get stronger.

Alpha-152

damn near threw my shit out the window and snapped my disc. At least she's easy to counter.

But other than that...I can appreciate a good final boss battle. Something like the Alan Wake games. Those final battles were of appropriate difficulty and fun

A boss with several transformations that MUST be defeated in one life is one badass boss.

Anyhoo, a challenging boss is a great boss. You have no idea how pissed off I was after spending all that time playing Pokemon White and the Champion was easier to beat than the Elite Four. There was barely a fight, man. Seriously.

A good boss is like Vaati in LOZ Four Swords. He had various attributes and implemented many different ways to attack, making the fight more challenging and fun. A little irritating, but fun.

When it comes to Mortal Kombat, Shao Kahn is my favorite boss to battle because of his many special moves that just add to the difficulty and fun. Not like Shinnok and his boring shit. For me, a good boss means variety.

Just to say, I can make some pretty badass bosses on Little Big Planet.
