A Rant: "Ow" or "I started a new job today"

After a horrible, horrible job-hunt that lasted two months, I finally found something today.
It's only temporary, until the end of august, but it will do. I now work at a magazine warehouse.
For some reason, this seems demeaning compared to my previous job as a video store clerk.
Perhaps it's because I don't like physical labor. I am, by any and all standards, a frail little girly-man, and the work was backbreaking.
The day started nice enough. After aking up and eating breakfast, I phone them up on reference from a friend who works there, and left a message on their machine. After showering, coming online (and here to make a post or two), I was just about to head out the door to pass out some C.V's, when the phone rings. They ask me to come in a two-thirty. I figure, OK, I've got an interview.
No, they wanted me to start today.
So after taking a ridiculous mathematical aptitude test, I began work in my interview suit.
Long story short, my interview suit needs repairs.
My hands, which were all soft and smooth this morning, are now cut and covered with callouses.
I'm sore all over. My feet have never hurt so much in my life.
I somehow wound up losing my favorite ring, the one which I've owned for seven years, despite keeping it on my finger, and in sight at all times.
This will continue for three months.
But the bright side is, I now have a job which pays above minimum wage (but not by too much), a group of really nice coworkers who aren't too busy to help the n00b operate the equipment, a cool boss, and I get to take home 10 mags or books each friday, free. (I've already got this month's Gamepro set aside, with E3 MK:D stuff)
Anf of course, I'll be able to go buy my guitar once I'm paid, and also go pay the balance on what I owe EB games for my MKD preorder.
I think I'm going to go to sleep now.

Besides free stuff, I don't see why anyone reserves games.
I've come to learn through experience that theres not ONE game that I have ever wanted that I couldn't get by just walking into the store and getting it. Without Pre-Ordering it.
They ALMOST got me with Vice City. Almost. Me and my friend were at EB and the sales clerk kept telling us "If you're not gonna reserve Vice City... Prepare to be without it for a week! Theres not enough going around!" My friend gave in. I lost a little respect for him that day.
Anyways... the day Vice City came out some kids cut school blah blah... I waited. Patiently, for the end of the day to come. At around 3 I drove to my local Walmart, walked in, Told the nice indian fellow to open the glass and that I wanted a Copy of Vice City. He opened it and took out one of the MANY that were there. I went home and played for hours.
So besides the free stuff and satisfaction of KNOWING you'll get a copy why do people reserve games? Especially MK. You KNOW thats not gonna sell out. While we are all Die-Hard fans here (I hope, if not, wtf are you doing here?) I feel as though im not putting the series down by saying its NOT THAT POPULAR. Amongst us...fuck yeah. But to the blind civilians out there, they see it as just another fighting game.
Back on track.. congrats on the new job.
