Just wondering.
Right here, ive always been a chains fan... IMO chains was the best grunge band ever, they had Nirvana beat badly in my book...
I went as far as went to a Creed show just to see Jerry Cantrell open, it ruled...
RIP Layne Staley

I love Alice in Chains, but not so far as to say they were better than Pearl Jam. It's a shame Layne isn't around anymore, we lost a real talent when he died.

Yea, I like them, I have their first 2 albums, Facelift and Dirt. "Bleed the Freak" on the former and "Down in a hole" from the latter are probably my favorite of their songs.
I don't think that's a fair statement, if by "beat" you mean they were more talented and represented the style better, as opposed to you just liking them more. They really weren't the same type of "grunge." AIC were more metal-grunge; Jerry Cantrell is an incredibly skilled guitarist, and writes fairly technical music. Nirvana, on the other hand, I think intentionally wrote more simplistic music. It's almost like comparing Metallica with the Misfits. AIC and Nirvana really are very different styles.

best seattle band in the history of seattle bands..i also saw creed with jerry cantrell and he was pretty good (personally i thought creed was a little better)...
Ever since I first heard "Them Bones" way back, I've been hooked. Favorite song would have to be Dirt's title track.
Hell, I'm going to have "Man In the Box" played at my funeral whenever that happens (love it so much, and, well, it would be funny in an odd sort of way).
A great shame about Layne. But at least he's now free from his suffering.
