Yoshi Wrote: Killing Heidi Earshot |
The singer from Killing Heidi went to the same highschool I did, she was just a few years above me (apparently, anyway, she is from around here so it wouldn't surprise me). Never knew her since I was pretty anti-social back in hs, but a semi-interesting fact anyways. Not that I care, I'm not a fan in the slightest.
And Earshot are pretty cool, not my usual style of music but cool anyways. Even though I do think the vocalist is a little bit too much like Maynard from Tool/APC, the only reason he gets away with it in my books is because he's pretty damned good regardless.

Damn that song is impossible to find. The original Flight 643 is pretty cool though.

There probably aren't any bands I can think of that none of you would know; seeing as how you gys are my biggest resource for obscure bands.
On a sidenote, I too share Hyuga's pain, but for me it was an Iced Earth and Evergrey show in NYC. I found out about it like 3 days afterwards...I'm still trying to get over it...I mean, Iced Earth and Evergrey, in the same building, how could I possibly not have known
. That kind of show never happens twice in a life time around here...

@ Rammsp00n: heh, I also recognised half of the bands on your list. What do you think about BlutEngel?
@ Reptilewins: DJ Tiësto is big over here, but I think he's a little overrated if you look past his good stuff (such as Flight 6643, Lethal Industries or Theme from Norfjell).
@ ShadowSong: Also recognised about half of your list. Very popular music here on our only "alternative" station (I don't mean that as a derogatory remark, btw... it's just that this radio station can only cover fragments of the alternative spectrum).
@ the person who listed Hungry Lucy (forgot who, sorry): cool stuff.
---
Anyway, I'm *rather* sure that these will be unknown to most of you:
- Megaherz
- Oomph!
- Biosphere
- Art of Noise
- Boards of Canada
- Push
- The Future Sound of London
- Photek
- Diskowalküren :P
- BRITNEY SPEARS

If I remember correctly, KH's lead singer's name is Ella Hooper? And I also think her brother Jesse was in the band too. I thought they had a nice sound, although some of their songs were odd.
Since I've got your attention, did you ever make anymore songs? I still have the midi's for "Yellow Impaled Hill" and "Un-high".

Megaherz are pretty well known to the average Rammstein fan, and anyone who bought Mortal Kombat Annihilation's soundtrack heard "We have explosion" by Future Sound of London

How about:
"Trance Paradise"
"Traffic"
"Clockwork Orange"
"Clokx"
"Love Comes Again"
"Adagio for Strings"
Those are some of his best tracks.
Besides the only other DJ I like is Oakenfold. Mangoo and Scooter are alright. But they just don't have the beats like Tiesto and Oakenfold.

I'll look them up. Adagio for Strings is by Samuel Barber/William Orbit though, not DJ Tiësto.

Yep, her name is Ella. I know people who know her, she's apparently a really nice girl, which is cool. Her brother is in the band, too. The only I know all of this is because they were huge here in Australia, by the way.
And yep, much more midi-ness. I'm in a 5 piece progressive/melodic death-ish type band (with some of the guys who wrote those midi's with me, funnily enough), and we've tabbed out a few of our tracks that may (may not, either) make our demo once we record it. Besides that, I tend to write a few full songs a week on midi by myself (2 guitars, bass, drums, etc). I get bored, really bored.
The only problem is that Guitar Pro 4 doesn't allow exporting to midi, it's a bug in this version of the program. The other midi's were done on GP3, which didn't have that problem. Easy fixed though, I don't think GP4 is that huge of a program and it's easy to find on file sharing programs, and I have the reg. ID and password for it.

Speaking of debatably obscure bands...
I'm searching for a seemingly rare song. It's by the band Rasputina, and it's called "Rusty the Skatemaker," and it's off their album "Thanks For The Ether." If anyone has it or knows where I can download it, please tell me!

Try using a file sharing program called SoulSeek. I'm not sure what the URL is, since it was recently changed (it isn't www.soulseek.whatever, for the record), but I'm sure a search engine will do the trick.
I find all of my music on there, and I listen to some stupidly obscure shit. I have bands on my computer who I swear nobody besides me and a handful of other people have heard, yet I've managed to find it on SoulSeek somehow. It really favours obscure bands, you're more likely to find B-sides by a Brazilian death metal band than a Britney Spears song. Well, that's over-exagerating, but you get the idea

Heh. I'm talking about the re-mix by Tiesto.

Any good DJ's out there that include Chorus in there work. I mean I like Club music but I'd love it more if there was a choir in it.
Think Posthumus club mix.
Theres a Remix to Tikal and its very clubby but it has chorus in it...
