For those who have seen this movie, what do you think about it? I think it's an above average film with some tense moments, at times a bit boring but ultimately a rather enjoyable experience

I kind of laughed when it was revealed that the aliens were moon rocks and how the ending implied that world leaders were infected with moon rock spiders
The ending was sad but I was hoping for a bit more on the Aliens. To anyone who is going to watch this movie, know that it is in fact like an actual tape of actual astronaut footage which I liked but at times this was boring. Also don't expect the aliens to just jump out and be main stars since they play a background role. The Cosmonaut Cave scene for one
and I recommend a watch to anyone who can see it.The Cosmonaut Cave scene for one
The movie sucked.
It was dumb, predictable, and obviously fake.
The cinematography was too damn good for it to be natural footage. No one can hold a camera that damn steady while running for there lives. Furthermore, no one would hold a camera (especially that damn steady) while running for their lives.
The main part that showed how fake this movie is was

when Nate was trying to get inside the Russian space pod. The other dude would not have been holding the camera that steady and that damn long while some guy is potentially killing them both if the shit was real.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm surprised that a movie released in a theatre for entertainment is being criticized for being "not real".
I mean I get that it looked to be one of those "Blair Witch", "Cloverfield", "Paranormal Activity", "Quarantine", etc. style of "found footage" genre films. Part of the suspension of disbelief for this sort of genre sort of dictates that you accept it as being "real"...for the sake of entertainment. Otherwise you're sort of just ruining it for yourself.

Cloverfield and Blair Witch manifested the fact that they were fake.
Paranormal Activity and Apollo 18 did not. They are heavily hyped with huge claims and "research" to support the images in these films. There is not a single suggestion that these films are fictional.
I hate it when films are hyped to make people believe the events are true. It actually ruins the entertainment of the films, for me at least.

What really bugged me about this movie is that for a "found footage" type of movie it had a lot of pointless "BOO!!!" moments, where its nothing. Also, ive never been dizzier in a movie theater...
Other than that, the movie was actually pretty enjoyable. I liked the idea and the ending and how its executed. Has some cliché moments but they arent terrible.
Overall im glad i watched it, worth the 10$.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here but there's a cast listing, a director, producer, special effects artists, etc. for both Paranormal Activity and Apollo 18. I have no idea why you'd think these movies were actually real. I guess that's a testament to good marketing?

I know you don't mean to be a jerk, I understand you complete.
It's just that the whole "archive footage" gimmick takes away from the fun of watching the movie. You see, I actually enjoy real documentaries and archive footage. I always find the histories behind them fascinating.
So, when I come across a film that is documentary-theme, I kinda take offense to it, and I take it as a mockery of actual documentaries. But that's just me. We all have different tastes in movies.
