Are We Getting Way Too Offended Easily?
In this recent Yahoo! article, Click it has it talking about how Walmart has to pull this costume set because of the word "Naughty" is in the title.
First off, I thought the costume looked cute. Secondly... I see nothing about it that's naughty. Third, I don't think the kid that would be wearing the costume would care. Fourth, why care when we have child beauty pageants that somewhat promotes child sexuality?
There's been a lot of things that gets on people's nerves way too easily, such as Abercrombie refusing to sell extra large (I believe). That certainly got a lot of people offended. Mothers don't like, "I get my brother to do my homework," shirts because it makes people think that their daughters are too lazy to do work. There's always some big uproar about how people get way too offended with what's on shirts, even zoos are forbidding people to wear animal clothing because the animals are... getting confused? Okay...
Do you think people are getting way too offended by articles of clothing as of recently? The only time I get offended is when I see an ass crack... no one wants to see an ass crack.

Guys don't mind when they see a female asscrack. LOL anyway yeah, people throw a bitch fit about everything. Just like grand theft auto and shootings. Companies should bust back and basically say fuck you and not listen to them. As long as there is no swears, racism, or extremely sexual words on clothing then people should just shut up.

Yeah I definitely agree. I actually got fired from my first job because of these kinds of people. I worked at a grocery store and i happened to sell non-alcoholic beer to some minors.
The store just happened to implement a new policy that week to card people on non-alcoholic beer, but never explained it to employees. Mind you legally by law, stores don't need a liquor license to sell non-alcoholic beer. There is more alcohol content in a bottle of vanilla extract or mouth wash than there is a non-alcoholic beer. It's just because it's labeled as "beer" that people get offended about children drinking it.
The girl's mom came down to the store making a huge deal and was threatening to sue the store. I had to file a report with regional HR who reviewed the case and decided to fire me. Not a single incident or problem with me in the 4 years i worked there and got canned over some BS.
As far as this story foes though, Walmart has always been one to avoid offensive things. The title does sound more appropriate for an adult costume, but the costume itself isn't offensive. Why not just have the manufacturer change the name?

Lol damn thats unfortunate. What the hell is even the point of non alcoholic beer? Whats next? THC- free marijuana?
Yes. We are.
Look no further:
The internet is the biggest proof. Anonymity and unwarranted self importance is basically a hotbed for a superiority complex.
General low level education, religious dominance and apathy lead to these kind of things methinks. I am speaking in overall terms of course, the individual level is a whole lot different question, even in it's methodology.

The following is a dramatization.
Low edumacation? I know u aint speaking about me? You seem to be the only one whose think its all about you.
That ends the dramatization.
???????? is all that comes to mind when reading some comments online.
All cereal, it's likely to get worse.
One would think that the word 'naughty' would refer to a kid being mischievous.
But no, the kid has to be a slut.
I just don't understand the sensitivity of some people. We can't say or do anything anymore without someone wanting to war about it. This reminds of how today men can't compliment a woman without being labeled as either a perv or a potential rapist. It's so sad to see this is where we've come to.
And now the bet's on kids. Get your shit together, parents!

"Yes, I'd like to report an abomination unto the lord that's spying on my child...Jimmy shut up and go play Grand Theft Auto."
But yeah, people are waaaaay to sensitive about things these days. Makes me sad. Nine times out of ten, the people that are most offended by things, are the biggest pieces of shit.

Some people have nothing better to do with their lives but then to freak out over small things. Ethnic genocide in Sudan? Who cares, as long as no one says "bitch" on TV. Who cares about the mayhem and destruction in Syria when Miley Cyrus is twerking on TV? If people got as mad about big things as they did about the little things, the world would be a better place.
That being said, I think that maybe the maker of the costume should've chosen a different word. "Naughty" definitely has a sexual connotation to it, especially when you think of Halloween costumes. Maybe "mischievious" or something like that.

You find me offensive? I find you offensive
For finding me offensive
Hence if I should draw a line on any fences
If so to what extense if
Any, should I go? 'Cause it's getting expensive
Being on the other side of the courtroom on the defensive
They say that I cause extensive
Psychological nerve damage to the brain when I go to lengths this,
Far at other people's expenses
I say your all just too god damn sensitive
It's censorship
And it's down right blasphemous
Listen to shit now cause I won't stand for this

The common factor is the double speech/standards.
I couldn't see the picture of the costume on the link. It seems like they deleted it.
But you're absolutely right about every single point you make.
Seeing the "naughty" thing has to do with individual people's own sight and point of view. Whoever finds it "naughty" is somehow sexualizing the child, but that doesn't mean the kid is trying to do that in any way to himself/herself, mainly because they just don't care and don't see things the same way (children don't usually sexualize everything like adults do).
Fortunately, there aren't TV shows about "little beauty queens" here where I live. But I also don't think those TV shows are about sexualizing kids. They're about selfish mothers who try to live their "supermodel dream" through their little children and, of course, make a lot of money on the way. They don't care about those kids who get recognized on the streets and are "famous for being on TV" instead of just having a normal kid's life.
Exactly. People hide under being anonymous just to "troll", which usually means to go around insulting everyone without any consecuence. They're not even trying to be funny or anything, and they know they just can't get caught, so they get away with it.
The sad thing is that behind those nicknames they may actually believe what they say (usually hatefull messages they spread everywhere).
