- Starz Orders 'Evil Dead' TV Series

Starz is bringing Evil Dead to TV.

The premium network has greenlighted an original series, entitled Ash vs. Evil Dead, that will serve as a follow-up to the horror comedy film franchise, it was announced Monday.

Original Evil Dead director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell will return for the 10-episode half-hour series, slated for a 2015 premiere.

The series marks Raimi and Tapert's return to Starz following their Spartacus run. Raimi revealed plans to continue the Evil Dead story on the small screen back at Comic-Con.

Campbell reprises his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip.

Raimi will direct the pilot, which he will co-write with his brother, Ivan (Darkman, Army of Darkness, Drag Me to Hell), and Tom Spezialy (Chuck, Reaper, Desperate Housewives). Sam Raimi will executive produce, along with Tapert and Campbell. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce, while Aaron Lam (Spartacus) will produce.

Should make some fans happy. Especially anyone not jazzed about the 2013 reremake thing. Groovy.

Groovy.

I'm glad Starz are doing it, just judging by Spartacus, it shouldn't tone down the gore too much.

This should be epic cant wait. Although, does this mean the other movies that were talked about are cancelled? I remember hearing rumors about a new evil dead, like a sequel to the most recent one, and then an Army Of Darkness 2 and then a third and final film which connects the original series to the new one?

This was a while ago though lol

- Lucy Lawless Joins Starz Series ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’

Spartacus alumna Lucy Lawless is returning to Starz with a co-starring role opposite Bruce Campbell in the premium 10-episode half-hour original series Ash vs Evil Dead, sequel to the cult horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The series, executive produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Talpert, is set to film on location in Lawless’ native New Zealand this spring and premiere in late 2015. Lawless will play Ruby, a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem: She believes that Ash (Campbell) is the cause of it all.

- CBR TV: Bruce Campbell Talks Mainstream Horror, the Hero's Journey of "Ash vs Evil Dead"

"Why not make it into a television show where you can take this character, take him on a hero's journey," Campbell said of the impetus behind the show. "He's Job. Evil is rising once again to test the mettle of the average man, and that happens to be Ash. And in this case a middle-aged, crabby Ash who's dragged basically kicking and screaming back into this."

Suck it, kids.
