Just wondering if anyone is interested in the new touch screen Backberry Storm? It comes out on Friday.

I've been mulling over getting a new phone as it is for the past month or so, and my current contracts up (currently with Sprint). It was between the Iphone, or the Storm. I see so many people with the Iphone lately, but I'm just not sold on AT&T service. The Iphone is pretty cool for what it can do, but the screen just seems too sensative too me. The Storm seems to be a ble to doeverything the Iphone can do, but I guess you need to actually press the screen in order to confirm button presses (which makes it seem like it's more controlled the navigation)

I'm not too thrilled with Verizon's pricing though (cheapest plan with every option included is $100 a month). I'm not too familar with Verizons's plans, but I don't think they offer an option text message add on like all the other carriers which kind of sucks.

So is anyone else planning on getting 1, or at least considering it?

The Blackberry storm is very tempting, but I'm done with phones. The release of my LG Voyager came out pricey with the plan, and at the time I had no credit.
Verizon's service is cliche, but I just hear so many great things from At&t. The touch screen technology is now on a Blackberry, but there's no need for me to have it. Not until my contract is up, if the streets is still buzzing about the Storm.

I feel like no touch screen is ever going to match that of the iPhone. I am surprised you find the iPhone too sensitive, because for everyone else it seems kind of perfect. I really can't deal with touch screens. I have Verizon and all I want to do is have a phone that doesn't slide, flip, have a touch screen, or a qwerty keyboard and it's nearly impossible to find. I would love if something like the EnV came out that didn't have a qwerty keyboard in the middle. Sigh.

And Verizon plans are really expensive, but I think the iPhone plan is expensive as well. I don't really understand the Blackberry Storm commercials. Is the touchscreen like bubbled?

I've had Verizon since I was like 15. I've never found it to be expensive at all. And what do you mean by bubbled?

I guess calling the screen a little too sensative was the wrong word. But the little hands on time I've had with my brothers, what ever I was trying to type in I kept hitting the key next to it, or above it, or below it, etc.

As far as I understand the Storm uses touch screen but it's not as sensative, and you need to physically press the screen in to confirm any button presses. If you lightly tap/touch the screen it highlights, but doesn't confirm or select it. Kind of like having to type something in on a keyboard, but then having to press enter to confirm it.

And Rijo (TJ) how did you reserve yours? I've been looking online trying to find any site that will let me pre-order it, but can't. Are they only doing it in store only?
Oh and as far as pricing goes, Verizon seems steep to me because my current phone bill with Sprint is is about $50 a month right now, but then again my phone can't really do anything either. It has no camera built it, no GPS, now web browsing or anything.

Bubbled: like where each button would be on the touch screen that you press. I thought it might be slightly raised wherever you have the option to touch it. Because the commercial is like "whoa, I clicked the touch screen."

I think Verizon is more expensive than the other services. I think it's unfair that if you go online for one second that you are getting charged two dollars because they purposely set some of the arrows to send you online. They say if you're in or you have unlimited picture messaging that it's free, but with every picture or any multimedia image you send, they are charging you for the megabyte usage. When you want a new phone or to transfer phonebooks there are charges.

Luckily I recently found out that if you make a MyAccount on the website, you can get backup assistant for free. This means that your contacts are saved on the internet. If you lose your phone, you aren't losing your contacts. Instead of paying ten dollars to transfer contacts, just download backup assistant on your new phone (it's free because you have a MyAccount) and put in your voicemail pin and you have your contacts on your new phone without the ten dollar charge. Also, instead of having Verizon people activate your phone you can do it online and you've just saved yourself a twenty dollar activation charge. I don't even break my phones, but every phone I've ever had has malfunctioned on me and that has cost me atleast 120 with transferring contacts and activating new phones.

Kabal20, I reserved it at the Verizon store in my mall. I have no idea about online reservations.

(erik) the screen isn't bubbled like individual buttons. The whole screen is touchable. When you click the "button" your actually pressing the whole screen in. Or thats the way it was put in a write up over at Crackberry.

It's called haptic.
It looks tempting but I'm pretty happy with my Nokia 5610 Slider Xpress Music. Im not really in need of a expensive phone that can scratch my ass and tell me how my stocks are doing. For now I love my phone. It plays music takes 3.5 Megapixel pics and plays the radio. But not to say I didn't have a Blackberry I had a Pearl it was tight until it stopped working. Maybe ill get a SideKick I've wanted one for a long while now.

Wow, that sounds very strange to me. I wouldn't think that turning the screen into a moveable button would be a good idea. It's like, how many times has a key gotten messed up on your phone? Well this phone only has one key, and it is the screen! Thank you a lot for clearing it up for me. I wonder when I will start to see people walking around with this phone.
