Bruce Lee 25% German?

I just heard this, that Bruce Lee's father was 100% Chinese and his mother was only 50% Chinese the other half being German. I wonder if anyone else knew this or was shocked as I am. And please no other miniscule Bruce Lee trivia on the board I'm just trying to gauge a reaction. Thanks.

I'm with Ryu-Hayabusa-0 on this one. Why is it so shocking? Yes it is a nice trivial fact, but it doesn't change my view of him. Are we supposed to think that he had some distant ties to Nazi Germany? I'm not trying to be mean or nothing, just honest.

Know what this thread reminds me of? That episode of Seinfeld where Jerry had a girlfriend with a Chinese name, but she wasn't Chinese, and she gave George's mother some advice over the phone, but when George';s mother found out she wasn't Chinese she decided the advice was worthless. Like being Chinese automatically makes you wiser (or, in the case of the thread, a better martial artist) than non-Chinese people. Seems like people are taking it like Bruce Lee is tainted, because he's not 100% Chinese.

You guys are douches! I said absolutely nothing about how being German hinders your ability or about it being detrimental to your status! Why does everyone have to turn everything about race into racism. Grow up some of you and realize that we can have an adult conversation excluding negativity, also keep in mind that Bruce Lee's apparent roots most likely died before WWI. Stop putting up a facade of anti prejudice all the while sparking the flames of that very reaction. Damn!

Umm because racism is a good foder for comedy and sarcasm...Which is exactly what I was doing. An intellegent person is able to see that it is impossible to tie Bruce Lee's ethnicity to Nazi Germany (which I figured some would realize, like yourself). Its just might be hard for some people to pick up on a joke in print it seems.

They didn't say you were being racist or prejudice. They were just stating that a lot of people will probably think less of Bruce Lee or at the very least have a different perspective of him.

Reguarding the topic, this is new to me. It is kinda weird that this information hardly ever surfaces. I guess people want to keep the "Asian Martial Artists" image of Bruce at full speed still.

oh yeah I'm 25% german, 14% Indian.

Give me a break.

My dad is half chinese and black, my mom is black. And Im black not 25% chinese or 13%percent Irish.
