- Art From The Darth Maul Game You'll Never Get To Play
The most recent issue of Game Informer Magazine contains an article that chronicles the creation and cancellation of a Darth Maul game that was in development at Red Fly Studio. I talked to numerous people from the development team and secured a wealth of assets from it, including gameplay footage (which you can see in Game Informer Digital), and concept art.
Pretty significant stuff! There's gameplay footage behind the paywall.
Lots more art in the Gameinformer article. Well worth a look!

- Video From The Darth Maul Game You'll Never Get To Play
Red Fly Studio's unnamed Darth Maul project was cancelled on June 24, 2011, a disappointing turn of events former Red Fly employees link to George Lucas' decision to sell Lucasfilm and LucasArts to Disney. The point of cancellation came right when Red Fly exited the prototyping phase for proper development of the game. Red Fly's vision was much different than that of other Star Wars games, blending stealth with violent lightsaber combat.
Video hooooo! Sounds like a really appealing premise.

Conceptart is incredible and I really wonder what this game would've been like instead of The Force Unleashed getting the limelight. So now this and the canceled Star Wars 1313 are on my list of "what could have been awesome Star Wars games."

Add cancelled Knights of the Old Republic 3 and Battlefront 3. Guess Lucas isn't that greedy after all

I believe the Battlefront game coming out isn't actually a sequel to the previous two games, but actually a reboot. It's set for a 2015 release date to correlate the release date of the new Star Wars movie, as well.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed about the fact that this game is never going to see the light of day. But from reading the article, it seems like the game would've been a mess anyway.

I don't care about Star Wars. I've seen the movies, but they never really attracted me.
Except for one thing. Darth Maul.
He looks badass, he's got that awesome twin-sabre thing going on, Ray Park is a talented movie martial artist and did great with him (and he's a cutie ;P )... He's the only thing I liked about the whole series. A game with him being the main character would most likely be one I would buy and play.
Too bad it was cancelled... the concept art looks awesome!

Yeah it seems some of the most downplayed aspects and characters of the SW universe always seems to be the most intriguing and yet they never wanted to explore those possibilities.

Well, I wouldn't say never. Both Boba Fett and Darth Maul had their characters fleshed out through the comics and in the Clone Wars cartoon.

Darth Maul is my favorite fuggin' Star Wars character and to have a game based around him would have been a dream come true. Sucks that this was canceled.
