Cases where Nintendo wasnt that family-friendly
We know Nintendo has quite the reputation for being family-friendly, but as the thread title says, it's not always the case. Here's a few examples.
F-Zero, and guns: Believe it or not, guns, and I mean realistic guns, the kind you'd see in the Resident Evil or the Metal Gear Solid games, have made a few appearances in the series. When you beat a cup in F-Zero X as Blood Falcon (who drives the Blood Hawk) on the standard difficulty or higher, you get a picture of him holding a pistol. In F-Zero GX, you can unlock mini-videos featuring the drivers by beating a cup on the Master difficulty, and I know of at least two, those of Pico and Don Genie, that feature realistic guns.
Kind of funny that they didn't give Snake in Super Smash Bros: Brawl any realistic guns, for the sake of being kid-friendly, when at least three Nintendo characters have wielded them.
Super Mario Bros: Yes, SMB. Not in the game itself, but the instruction booklet, that said that Bowser killed Peach's father by slitting his throat, and that all the blocks players have destroyed with reckless abandon were actually the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom. All of that of course has been omitted by Nintendo. Then again, there's one part in Mario & Luigi that I clearly remember, where scary stories of people getting skinned alive are mentioned. Not that we actually see any of that, of course, but still.
Earthbound: Only one word, or rather, a name, required: Giygas. Really, just enter the name on Youtube, and you'll see. Not the only example from that series, but easily the best one.
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time: The golden cartridge version feature a little blood in the fight against Ganon. It's been censored into green blood in other versions. And generally, the series doesn't shy away from mentioning Ganondorf's murderous nature.
Metroid; like the LOZ series, it's not shy about mentioning death. Ridley did kill Samus' biological parents, not banish them to some other dimension or anything strict censors would cook up.
Punch Out: Vodka Drunkenski. Even when they changed his name to Soda Popinski, they didn't bother removing his blatant references to alcohol in his quotes.
Donkey Kong 64; Nothing major, but the word "hell" is used in the DK Rap during the intro. I heard that apparently caused a stir.
I did read somewhere that there was an Hentai game for the NES that was only released in Japan. There's the Gamecube version of BMX XXX, which was uncensored, unlike the PS2 one. I've also heard that the SNES version of MK1 was censored by Nintendo of America, not the original Japanese branch. Does anyone here have any examples of their own?

Well, all those early Mario games have you killing the Mushroom Kingdom since the Toads (I'm calling them Toads) were all transformed into blocks.
Every time you crush a block by jumping your hand into them, you kill a Toad. And the game blatantly rewards you sometimes for doing that with coins.
You're all a bunch of murderous bastards.

Don't get me started on Pokemon. Yes yes, i know it's made by game freak but Nintendo licence it.
Here's another: MadWorld. It's release on the Wii was controversial, certainly because it was exclusive to the Wii.
I read somewhere that the inclusion of a hell in Super Paper Mario (the UnderWhere) offended some. Even Mario taking mushrooms to grow bigger could be compared to taking drugs or steroids. At least, I'm sure that's what some morally uptight people would think.

No More Heroes. Nuff said
Super Metroid.
Once the self-destruct mode has been activated, you have a chance to save some cute animals.
IF you decide that your life is more important to save rather than theirs, they'll die. They fucking DIE.
But if you do save them, the ending shows you a tiny, itty, bitty, wittle pixel flying to the right side of the screen before the planet explodes.
Saving animals makes difference in pixels... You're still a bunch of murderous bastards.

Super Mario World has you sending the Koopalings to their deaths, sometimes in a lava pool.
Super Metroid has you dropping the Crocomire into an acid lake, forcing you to listen to its screams as its flesh melts off its bones.
F-Zero shows your character's car plummeting to the ground before exploding in a fireball, killing them and who knows how many people on the ground.
Link's Awakening lets you take your sword and smack a chicken over and over until the chickens decide to take revenge.

Why tell lies on the internet? In the English manual it mentions there was a King but says nothing about how or even if he died.
Also, since you're using the English manual as reference (on page 8 where it says "Mario's Friends"):
If you come across mushrooms who have been turned into bricks or made invisible, they reward you by giving you a power boost. With each boost, Mario changes into a different, more powerful Mario, as shown below
And then it shows the magic mushroom, fire flower, and starman.
As explained in the manual, your reward for freeing the trapped mushroom guys is powerups.
So, why lie on the internet?

Wasnt there something in Starfox that originally the main characters had there legs cut off and replaced with robot ones so they dont loose consciousness while flying. (blood stays in the head etc)

Pokemon hasn't been family-friendly since Cubone's mother died and Banette got thrown away.

The Lost Kingdoms series had some pretty disturbing designs...Chimeras, Incubus',Succubus etc.
This is the Corrupted God of Harmony (the second games boss) I couldnt find an in game imagine, the games are mostly forgotten, and that makes me sad.
I remember seeing a picture from Luigis Mansion, apparently you can see Luigis shadow being hung from a rope or something I don't know if its true, or if thats just how it looks.
