Classical Music Thread
Classical Music Thread
Following the fad of music threads (Metal and Hardcore,) I'd decided to create a similar thread, but more suited to my tastes. Who hear likes classical music? Any sort, considering the range is wider than you think. Do you like grand-scale orchestra pieces and symphonies? Piano sonatas? Beethoven? Mozart? Vivaldi? Chopin? Opera? Perhaps something a little more contemporary? Please, everyone discuss your favorite instruments, sounds, composers, pieces, instrumentalists, and singers.

My tastes in the Classics are similar to my tastes in the Moderns. Catchy beat, not hard on the ears, something I like.
Favorites include Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor," the Fantasia edition preferably ;) I'm pretty picky about versions, since Orchestras seem to have their own flair of things. Dune - "Out of this World" I'm not too certain is an actual "Classical" piece but it sure fits in there style-wise; that's another good one in my books.
And there's nothing quite like the Hungarian Rhapsody by Franz Liszt, especially not with Bugs Bunny piano-dueling with the mouse in the foreground ;D Oh yeah, Looney Tunes is great for all sorts of Classical introductions. ^___^
Nice thread. *nods*

I'm partial to Chopin. My favorites are "Waltz No.1 in E flat major, Op.18" and "Nocturne No.10 in A flat major, Op.32, No.2".
And who cannot watch "A Clockwork Orange" and not become a fan on Ludwig Van

You are the most useless human being on the planet. For the sake of all that is holy, someone ban him, maim him, poo on his head, whatever gets the job done.
That being said, I'm a big fan of classical music, but I'm not big on specifics. I listen to a lot of Chopin, Bach, and Mozart, but I can't keep my sonatas and concertos straight. If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them.
I also love alot of modern composers who write music that you can tell draws from a huge classical background, like Muse. Listen to their new album Absolution and you'll know exactly what I mean.
Chopin seems to be preferred...which is great, I love him. The Nocturnes are to die for...I love soft, heart-wrenching piano solos. My favorite one is probably Nocturne in C-Sharp Minor.
Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor is also an excellent piece, although I've yet to investigate any of the others.

I listen to classical music myself. One of my favorites happens to be Fur Elze by Mozart (?) or Beethoven (?)...I don't know the composers by heart.
And Marriage of Figaro is always an uplifting little tune.

Fur Elise (by Beethoven) is probably my favorite classical piece. Handful of other classical pieces by Beethoven, Mozart, etc.
If we're counting classical/electronica, Juno Reactor and VNV Nation have some good songs.

Modern composers and bands that have a classical style or feel are great, too. Philip Glass is an excellent composer as well as Akira Yamaoka, and A Silver Mount Zion. There's also a lot of modern opera singers, like Emma Shapplin, Linda Eder and Andrea Bocelli, who perform modern repertoires with classical vocal techniques.

I like Beethoven's 9th synphony (Carmina Burana) and Moonlight Sonata
Beethoven! he's fabulous... even though lot's of people pronounce his name wrong (Beeth-Oven)
I wish I could learn more of his songs because I only know how to play Fur Elese... he's quite difficult (especially for me because I have only been on the piano for about 4 1/2 years now)
I wonder what it would be like if he came out with another movement... or in modern terms...album.

2) Get the fuck off this thread if you're not going to discuss classical music.
About Classical music though, I have been listening to Mozart for years now. He will always be my all time favorite composer.

This is one lesson I've learned about internet flaming, never play the bad grammar card. Even the smartest, coolest, and most popular people have their off days. Some more frequent than others...

1) This is a thread about classical music. The examples you chose were in no way classical...or debatably music, either.
2) Stop acting like a petulant toddler for attention.
3) Please die in your sleep.

First off, what defines classical music is not whether they are actually classics by definition but whether they fall into the time period and/or style of the genre.
Secondly, whether or not your choices in music where classical or not was never the question. It was the fact of your being an idiot.
