"Tis true my form is something odd, But blaming me is blaming God. Could I create myself anew, I would not fail in pleasing you. If I could reach from pole to pole, Or grasp the ocean with a span, I would be measured by the soul, The mind's the standard of the man."

I'll say this, so far there are four movies that are on my best of 2004 list so far.

1. Kill Bill Vol. 2
2. Kill Bill Vol. 2
3. Kill Bill Vol. 2
4. Kill Bill Vol. 2

Well... I'm adding Collateral to make it #5!

It's not what the movies is, but what it isn't! It's not a action packed thrill ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat for two hours. It's not simply about a hitman who kidnaped Jamie Foxx's character and forces him to drive him to his stops where he's contracted to kill five people. It's about two people understanding who the other is through conversations and great dialogue.

Criuse is more than just a killer. He's a man who treats killing simply as a job and how he expresses it through his conversations with Foxx is just amazing! He's also an effective and lethal killer! I mean DAMN! I'll just say that he kills he fair share of people in the movie and leave it at that.grin His humor is menacing and focused as well which makes him believable as a hitman!

Foxx might get a supporting nod for this role and I wouldn't disagree if he did at least get nominated. However I think he may get a lead actor nod for his upcoming "Ray" bio pic based on the life of Ray Charles.

Anyhoo, this is Foxx's best role to date and I was really surprised to see how effective he was as "Max". He gives his character some complexity that another would probably overlook. He clearly is afraid of Criuse and shocked at his actions, but he doesn't let's the human side appear with bravery at the end to save Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Hell, this movie is so good, I'm giving it a A+!

I agree man!

Collateral was badass! Tom Cruise is great. As always. I thought Jamie Foxx was gonna just crack jokes left and right but I was glad that he didn't. Two thumbs up Michael Mann!

I want to be a Hitman.

With that said, I suggest fans of this movie to watch HEAT if they haven't. Pacino and Deniro are amazing. Also, HEAT has one of the greatest Movie Shootouts of ALL time. Bank Robbery -> Cops show up -> Shootout with cops involving mean ass M4's in the streets of LA.

Grrrrreat stuff!

I really liked Collateral, just when you think things couldnt get any worse, they do. I thought both Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise did brilliant acting. I highly recommend seeing this movie.

Whoever hasn't seen HEAT yet shouldn't be allowed to go to the movies. I agree. Collateral was a bangin movie and Tom Cruise was the coolest bad guy ever.

I thought it was great. I was expecting an action-packed thriller, almost in the same vein as other killer-for-hire tales, like The Transporter or many others. Yet, it was slow, thought-provoking, with wonderful dialogue and incredible performances. While I feel like the ending could have been much more... intense and emotional... without the over-played, loud soundtrack that never seemed to be there until the end, scene such as the night-club shoot-out and the crazy speeding-taxi scene really made up for it. I recommend it and give it an easy thumbs up.
Fatality.
