I've been hearing a lot lately that Donald Trump is seriously considering to be a runner for President soon. Do you think that we need a businessman in the office right now? To me, I actually would like to see this guy run for president, but... would he be a Republican, a Democrat or would he be his own party? If this guy can help this country out... I would definitely like to see some sort of change happening.

Do you think this guy could change America if he was running for president? Or do you think he can't do anything for this country and running for the seat is stupid?

I don't think he could be president. Even id he was able to win I don't think it would help our country out having a business man in office. He's a celebrity now days, and as far as his investments go he has taken on business adventures that have failed. So it doesn't really add up to helping this country out.

Personally I think we need someone who is will to make the sacrifices need in order to get government spending under control. Once we get rid of our debt, and the government actually has a surplus of income then the economy will come back. Just like under Clinton. I'm sure it's been said before but I, like a lot of people, think Arnold Schwarzenegger would make a great president. Unfortunately he's not a national born citizen so he is ineligible from running.

Running on the Democratic ticket would be utterly pointless and he'd have the entire FIRE sector (they love dat Obama) to fight against, so that's not gonna happen. Running on the Republican ticket would also be pointless since he'd have people like Romney and Gingrich to contend with. The Republican's are really cohesive and would absolutely drop an outsider like Trump in favor of someone without all of his goofy baggage.

So in conclusion: Sanders/Weiner 2012.

way I see it, republicans are evil and soulless at least the majority of them are, and the democrats are spineless do nothings. so naturally who gets the most shit pushed through?

I wish this was true, but they're mostly just corporatist whores like the Republicans. That's just the excuse they use to keep things moving smoothly.

I know about 15-30 of them have corporate obligations but perhaps this is all just an act.

It's gonna take more than a big-mouthed celebrity president to pull this country of the mess it's in right now. In fact, no president can help this country in its current condition without a lot of help from a supportive public and congress. If people really want to see change in this country they're gonna have to learn to organize movements and work for it. Our government's been drifting in a corporatist (in the Ron Paul sense) for decades (at least) now, and the pace is only going to increase now that corporations can donate however much money they wish to presidential and congressional candidates. Unfortunately, the only Americans who seem to have found their civil spines at this point all live in Madison, WI.
All of that said, Trump has absolutely no chance of ever becoming president. He has as much a chance as Sarah Palin: zero. Zip. Nada. If he did, though, he'd almost certainly try to run as a Republican. He's already called Michael Moore a "communist" for daring to criticize the rich for failing to pay their share of the tax burden, which betrays the same sort of right-wing fanaticism that has dominated the Republican party at least as far back as the beginning of the Bush administration; the same sort of fanaticism that put this country in the condition it's in right now. That's something this country needs less, not more, of.
Really, though, some of you should listen to yourselves, and understand what it means.
Gee, the country is in such dire straits that even a boorish ass like Donald Trump seems like a prime presidential candidate.
Really.

But this is hardly anything astonishingly new, especially in lieu of someone like Reagen being elected after the energy crisis. That's not to say Trump and Reagen are exact parallels, or are even on the same planet as far as political viability, but being an ass or woefully ham-fisted wasn't much of a problem for the voters when W. Bush or Reagen were elected...twice. Honestly, the only thing stopping Trump from being at least a contender (again, he's still nowhere near Bush or Reagen's league in that he has no experience to stand on, but he could still be a mild irritation for Pawlenty and Co.) besides his haircut, is that he's made his buffoonery, fuck ups, and egotism so public. Voters have no problem voting against what's in their own best interest in favor of some dense, I-feel-like-I-could-have-a-beer-with-him snake of a politician. Also there's the 24/7 news media that have been having a field day with this bullshit speculation on Trump's supposed presidential aspirations. That stupid sensationalism certainly isn't helping anyone.

He said be President he didn't say be a GOOD president. I think it's totally possible. A poll in New Hamshire, I belive it was New Hamshire anyway, placed Trump just 2 points behind the president. The thing about Obama is, his re-election is currently a 50/50 with the bonus of being an incumbent, but with the way things are going down in the Middle east, it could prove to be problematic.

We were in bad shape with W.

We are in the same boat with Obama.

I say let's go four years without a President. Fuck it, they don't do shit anyway. It's all a facade.

The USA will see the true second coming of the Great Depression by the end of this year. Mark my words. You think 2008 was bad? You ain't seen nothing yet.

As soon as the other world powers and the oil-rich nations stop doing business in dollars... and they will... America is royally fucked.

To add to this: U6 unemployment is at 16%, we have a gargantuan income disparity, we're cutting education and all of our social safety nets for the sake of keeping the richest and most powerful percent of our society tax free, the passing of Citizens Untied pretty much made sure that our already thoroughly corrupt campaign process would be made absolutely unsalvageable, and we're barley investing in any of our infrastructure because public work projects and earmarks to restore bridges and shit are apparently the worst thing since stubbed toes.

So yes, we're currently in the opening credits of "Great Depression 2: Electric Boogaloo" and we still have a long way to go until Ozone and Turbo(civil unrest) beat back the nefarious developers(Wall Street twats and shills) from bulldozing the local recreation center(America and by proxy half of the world) into oblivion.

Trump could do a lot in terms of cleaning up our debt assuming he had the support of the house and senate, the problem i have with him is his constitutional foundation. I dont know if he has one, i dont know if he is gonna consider whats constitutionally appropriate or just what he can get away with in terms of executive action. The office of the presidency is notorious to those who pay attention for its ability to corrupt those who hold it, no matter where their heart is prior to taking office.

If we dont get a real libertarian president soon (next 10-20 yrs), then m0s3pH is absolutely correct, we will be in another great depression. except this one will be much worse.

A libertarian president has to happen NOW. Obama needs to be out in 2012. There's no getting around that. He isn't solely responsible for where we are now, but he sure as shit hasn't done anything to help the situation.

The harbingers of the apocalypse are mounting. We can either stop it or allow nature to run its course.

Now would definitely be better, unfortunately, unless Obama is held to account for his unconstitutional use of military force in Libya, and they decide to impeach him (highly doubtful), then we have almost 2 yrs until we seat the next president. and that's assuming Obama doesn't win re-election.

Also, i dont think America is ready to elect someone who's willing to tell them the truth about what has to be done to save the Union. Everybody wants spending reduced but no one is willing to sacrifice their own handouts to get it done. I mean damn, the democrats call 6 billion a good cut, the republicans call 60 billion a good cut but they both leave over 1 and a half trillion (annually) that HAS to be cut not to mention the 14 tril that HAS to be paid back. Its a joke to these guys. furious
