Do you think this guy could change America if he was running for president? Or do you think he can't do anything for this country and running for the seat is stupid?
Personally I think we need someone who is will to make the sacrifices need in order to get government spending under control. Once we get rid of our debt, and the government actually has a surplus of income then the economy will come back. Just like under Clinton. I'm sure it's been said before but I, like a lot of people, think Arnold Schwarzenegger would make a great president. Unfortunately he's not a national born citizen so he is ineligible from running.

So in conclusion: Sanders/Weiner 2012.

...and the democrats are spineless do nothings.
I wish this was true, but they're mostly just corporatist whores like the Republicans. That's just the excuse they use to keep things moving smoothly.

All of that said, Trump has absolutely no chance of ever becoming president. He has as much a chance as Sarah Palin: zero. Zip. Nada. If he did, though, he'd almost certainly try to run as a Republican. He's already called Michael Moore a "communist" for daring to criticize the rich for failing to pay their share of the tax burden, which betrays the same sort of right-wing fanaticism that has dominated the Republican party at least as far back as the beginning of the Bush administration; the same sort of fanaticism that put this country in the condition it's in right now. That's something this country needs less, not more, of.
Really, though, some of you should listen to yourselves, and understand what it means.
Gee, the country is in such dire straits that even a boorish ass like Donald Trump seems like a prime presidential candidate.
Really.

But this is hardly anything astonishingly new, especially in lieu of someone like Reagen being elected after the energy crisis. That's not to say Trump and Reagen are exact parallels, or are even on the same planet as far as political viability, but being an ass or woefully ham-fisted wasn't much of a problem for the voters when W. Bush or Reagen were elected...twice. Honestly, the only thing stopping Trump from being at least a contender (again, he's still nowhere near Bush or Reagen's league in that he has no experience to stand on, but he could still be a mild irritation for Pawlenty and Co.) besides his haircut, is that he's made his buffoonery, fuck ups, and egotism so public. Voters have no problem voting against what's in their own best interest in favor of some dense, I-feel-like-I-could-have-a-beer-with-him snake of a politician. Also there's the 24/7 news media that have been having a field day with this bullshit speculation on Trump's supposed presidential aspirations. That stupid sensationalism certainly isn't helping anyone.

We were in bad shape with W.
We are in the same boat with Obama.
I say let's go four years without a President. Fuck it, they don't do shit anyway. It's all a facade.

As soon as the other world powers and the oil-rich nations stop doing business in dollars... and they will... America is royally fucked.

The USA will see the true second coming of the Great Depression by the end of this year. Mark my words. You think 2008 was bad? You ain't seen nothing yet.
To add to this: U6 unemployment is at 16%, we have a gargantuan income disparity, we're cutting education and all of our social safety nets for the sake of keeping the richest and most powerful percent of our society tax free, the passing of Citizens Untied pretty much made sure that our already thoroughly corrupt campaign process would be made absolutely unsalvageable, and we're barley investing in any of our infrastructure because public work projects and earmarks to restore bridges and shit are apparently the worst thing since stubbed toes.
So yes, we're currently in the opening credits of "Great Depression 2: Electric Boogaloo" and we still have a long way to go until Ozone and Turbo(civil unrest) beat back the nefarious developers(Wall Street twats and shills) from bulldozing the local recreation center(America and by proxy half of the world) into oblivion.

If we dont get a real libertarian president soon (next 10-20 yrs), then m0s3pH is absolutely correct, we will be in another great depression. except this one will be much worse.

A libertarian president has to happen NOW. Obama needs to be out in 2012. There's no getting around that. He isn't solely responsible for where we are now, but he sure as shit hasn't done anything to help the situation.
The harbingers of the apocalypse are mounting. We can either stop it or allow nature to run its course.

Now would definitely be better, unfortunately, unless Obama is held to account for his unconstitutional use of military force in Libya, and they decide to impeach him (highly doubtful), then we have almost 2 yrs until we seat the next president. and that's assuming Obama doesn't win re-election.
Also, i dont think America is ready to elect someone who's willing to tell them the truth about what has to be done to save the Union. Everybody wants spending reduced but no one is willing to sacrifice their own handouts to get it done. I mean damn, the democrats call 6 billion a good cut, the republicans call 60 billion a good cut but they both leave over 1 and a half trillion (annually) that HAS to be cut not to mention the 14 tril that HAS to be paid back. Its a joke to these guys.
