frggin lakers with lame ass shaq old man malone and Kobi's church-goin-white-girl rapin ass...Now I'm sure that Detroit will deliver a good basketball experience with Hamilton/Bryant, Wallace/O'neil, Malone/Rasheed face-off intriguing me... but this being the last year for the *all-Star* Lakers I figured Mid season that they were gonna win... It became crystal clear when they beat San Antonio... so I hopped the band wagon and the lakers will go on to win the Finals at game 6 for the sake of ticket sales... Anyone think the lakers Being where they are is not suspicious... or the fact that a Detroit/LA Finals happened in the WNBA as well... kinda makes you think... maybe they needed to supplement ticket sales...

I honestly don't follow the NBA anymore (haven't for years), but since I am a hardcore soccer fan, all I have to do is refer you to Real Madrid's season this year (for those who aren't in the know, the soccer club has made 4 of the biggest signings in just as many years; along with a couple of other players - fans and the media called them "galacticos"; sorta like how people talk about this year's Lakers - they were the favored team to win all 3 of the tournaments they were gonna participate in; they won ZERO) for proof that having such a strong team doesn't necessarily guarantee that they'll win.
P.S. I just checked and the Pistons are winning in the fourth quarter. I know you mentioned the series ending in SIX games, and who knows, it just might, but the trophy could end up in Detroit.

Real should'nt have come to Old Trafford last summer, they left with another superstar they didn't need, and a manager who was not ready for that job. And it left both clubs worse off, Real got another 'galactico' when they needed to keep Makalele and invest in another Defensive midfielder (Edgar Davids anyone??) Davids is at Barca now and linking up with Ronaldinho well. Man United lost Beckham's amazingly consistent service, Ruud van Nistelrooy had his worst season for Man United in terms of goals: any coincedence? But United have Ronaldo, and are goin to spend this summer to strenghten their squad, they already bought Alan Smith and will be a match for anyone in the Champs League in 2004/2005.
Sorry to go off topic, but I had to explain Madrid's downfall as well as Man United's for last season. Detroit are still winning, but after goin up by 13 the Pistons have let it slip to 7pts - 77-70 with 3:22 left in the forth q.

dude gameplay wise it's not like the west doesn't dwarf the east in terms of sheer size or skill... but this is the last time that this all star Laker team is assembled because after this season either Kobe Goes or jackson goes and if either goes the Lakers are back to shit after Magic...Shaq is not a driving force anymore, payton malone and fisher are showing age so... this year is do or die...
on the matter or soccer... If I may be as ignorant to ask but did I hear right... Man. U. has Ronaldo??? can someone please clarify plus my favorite Madrid was the one from two years ago with Baraja, Morientes, Figo, Raul, hierro and Zidane...

Sorry not the Ronaldo you think. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was a 19-year old sensation at Man United last season. He's portuguese and has ridiculous skill, amazing - kinda like Ronaldinho, if you wanna see him watch any of Portugal's games at Euro 2004 which starts this Saturday.

Krsx cleared up the whole Ronaldo issue, but I gotta clear something else up:
Ruben Baraja was NOT in Real Madrid 2 years ago.

Dont hate the Lakers because they're friggin awesome. Detroit better celebrate what is going to be a short lived victory, cause that's the same thing that happens every year. When the Sixers were the only team to win a game against the Lakers 3 years ago, they all talked shit, then what happened, Lakers swept them up.
West > East
West > East

I'd fucking feel so much better if Detroit wins the finals!
Lets go East Coast!
Lets go East Coast!
I hate them because they play dirty, talk dirtier, they're both sore losers and sore winners, and they get away with murder from the referees.
Don't even get me started on the issues I have with Shaq...

You are totalyy right, Shaq gets away with everything, all his elbowing and shit, and with kobe traveling all the time like someone else said.
Yet more reasons why I hate the Lakers-They play dirty and never get called for fouls and Shaq and his annoying ass cocky press conferences

I don't get why people hate the Lakers because they play dirty, there are tons of other teams that play just a dirty. Gary Payton he talks the most shit, but he can back it up. I agree though, that Shaq is overrated, all he does is dunk, he plays nothing like all the old schoolers.
I'm sorry, but the East hasn't come close to being a threat to the West since MJ left the Bulls.

I'm still hopin the Pistons win it all, but lets calm down on Shaq.
Ok, he throws bows and 'plays dirty' but at the same time, he is being intentionaly hacked every play by at least 1 guy, usually 2. 'Hack a Shaq' as it is called, and he still puts up 30.
Not to mention he could be any of u 1 on 1

Well, living near Detroit (~30 mi.) I, of course, hope they win. I really want the Eastern teams to get a little respect, since the Western teams have always seemed to be the 'best'.
I hope the Piston's win, but I have a feeling Lakers will take it in the end. But I'm prayin' for the Pisons

I sure hope Detroit wins! Those of you jumping the "Lakers Bandwagon", let me tell you this; the bigger you are, the harder people want to see you fall. Take note of that. Now if you would like to flame me just for being anti-Lakers, go right ahead; you'll accomplish nothing at all, because I have legit reason to hate the Lakers the way I do. I'm from San Antonio, and the Spurs were our last NBA champions, so of course I'm going to hate the Lakers.

Actually, we had LA down 2 games to 0, then they won 4 in a row. I guess LA started getting smart on Tony Parker after Game 2.
