Dawn of the Dead remake... love it or hate it?

posted03/27/2004 02:11 PM (UTC)byErmackDaddyI saw it earlier today, and I really liked it. It kind of had that feel of RE/HOTD feel *the movies that is, not the games* and I loved them both. Eh, I guess I'm just a zombie fanatic. Didnt like the end so much, but I won't spoil it. I will say this, don't leave until the credits are done rolling. Did yall see it or plan to see it?

I don't really plan on seeing this until it comes out on dvd...I dislike any horror movies that feel the need to put the word "dead" in the title

i dont like some remakes, like i bought the night of the living dead remake years back on dvd, and then was like coolish, but i never really owned the original and was like, ok, and just thinking of what i saw on tv late at night like 12 am when i was a kid.
but then i bought the vualt of horrow, 10 movies for $14.99 that had the original night of the livind dead, so i was like cool, and i was watching it, and it was an awsome movie, then after i saw it i was like
" the original was so much better"
i got dawn of the dead, original movie, on dvd, for $11.99 at best buy, and i watched it, and it kicked ass, but now im worried that the movie might suck, i watched the original trailer released on the net way back, a few months ago, and i was like, holy sh$t this movie will be awsome, but now seing the tv adds, im iffy.
remakes that sucked
psycho- never really liked the original or watched the whole thing anyways, but the remake was forced to see and hated it

i saw this flick on friday and wow it was a great movie , the acting was well done and yes i did love the begginging and the after credits ending
it had a frantic gritty feel in many parts and had great gore and a good story
this remake does not dthisthingisdisabledue the originals whatsoever
if you are a horror fan than this movie is for you, this movie raised the bar for horror films , this movie is also leaps and bounds in quality over such movies as house of the dead or house of 1000 corpses
go see it

yea, it was better that HOTD, but HOTD was supposed to be horrible, says the director, and thats why i think its a good movie. I also loved the beginning of the movie, no time to prepare for whats happening next

I think both Dawn of the Dead movies are awesome. I actually like the remake better! I was so thrilled and scared at the same time. NO horror movie has done that to be since i was 7.

I was expecting dawn of the dead to at least have a small storyline about purgatory and hell on earth but you get none of that except a small blurb by a preacher on a tv in the mall. 28 Days later is a similar but MUCH better movie.

just curious if you all know that the guy who said, when there is no more room in hell the dead will walk the earth, that guy on tv was the same guy who said it in the 1st one.Just wondering if anyone else noticed it.But i didnt really like the movie ,i thought they took to much time in the mall instead of outside, there was hardly that many zombies in the mall in this one then the 1st one.Anyone else noticed that both movies used bp trucks? And the end during the credits just reminded me way to much of hotd. When you die your body becomes stiff ,thus you can't run like that after you are dead.I really think the story that they had here was pretty boring and outdated. And i couldnt help but laugh when they started playing scary music when you see the mall and inside the mall.I was like ohhh snap the killer mall ahhh everyone run.Seriously what was so scary about the mall.Nothing....anyways,i give this movie 1 * And think you should see secret window instead, that is way better. And or Enternal Sunshine of the spotless mind.

it was a hell of a lot better than i thought it would be. the only beef i had with the movie was the whole running zombie thing. zombies cant run.

I loved it. It was hilarious. That "here he comes tring to scare me" feel throughout the whole movie had myself and my crew of six laughing.
Don't get me wrong. I tried to get into it but it was so over the top and predictable at nearly every supposedly scary moment that I couldn't suppress laughter.
I seriously think that they decide to stop making these types of films for a while. At least until a new idea comes up. Other than the RE sequel there is nothing in this genre worth making at the time. The last fresh idea hollywood has had in this genre was Jeepers Creepers. Which I thought to be more of an outline for a horror flick than anything.

it was a great comdedy.
only movie where ur like allowed to walk around during and talk to strangers(10 other people in theater)
we all laughed, made fun of it, yelled at people in the movie.
the movie was very bad. if it was trying to be horror, it fell short.
but i haven't laughed so hard since i saw starsky and hutch

On the topic: I am going to see the movie tonight so I will let you know when I get back. From things that I have heard and the previews it looks like it will be a pretty good movie.
