Nice review. First time I saw this guy, thanks whopper.

Allow me to comment on some of his points though since he glosses over aspects of the game.

- Hammers, Planks, and Oars, oh my! - He's right, you do end up using a lot of these plain weapons. What he completely glossed over though is that after a point, you HAVE to be using modded weapons in order to gain the upperhand. So what starts as a hammer, turns into a giant electrocuting polearm. The mod system is pretty in-depth and critical to you surviving multiple enemies.

- First-Person Melee - This is a legitimate beef since depth-of-field can be an issue but it's certainly not as insurmountable as he described. It's just the varitation creates a learning curve that you might not be used to right out of the gate. You do find "sweet spot" rhythms of well timed amputations, dodges, and crowd control. It just takes some more time with the game.

- Analog Combat - Sounds like he didn't bother using it since he didn't mention it...at all. This is EXTREMELY helpful (and more fun) since you can target and swing attacks using your Analog stick versus relying on the default trigger mash.

- Lack of story - Absolutely. They dropped the ball here. No excuse.

- Death respawn progression - Another fuck up. The respawn checkpoint system launched glitchy so you could die and rez FURTHER along than before you died.

- Guns & Ammo - There's really only one character with a skill tree devoted to being a Firearm specialist so while anyone can use Firearms, only one character (class) is given the opportunity to increase baseline % in Ammo drop rate and Ammo craft rate. Also, it sounds like he didn't realize that there's a way to craft your own modded ammo.

- Co-Op - He didn't even mention it...and it's a huge part of the design of the game.

A pretty fair review though. I disagree that this game warrants a "Do not play". I could agree to a "Rent before buy" since I still think it's a fun experience.
