I was never a big fan of Death, but I respect the hell out the band and Chuck for what they did to music. I'm a huge fan of heavy metal music, but more melodic styled genres such as Melodic Death Metal, Deathcore, Grindcore, Metalcore, and Technical Death Metal but without Chuck and everything Death did back in the 80s, some of my favorite bands like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames wouldn't have been influenced to create their own sub-genres of metal (Melodeath), just like Death created Death Metal. Without Death Metal, The Red Chord, Salt the Wound, and Glass Casket wouldn't have created Deathcore. The influence Death has just goes on and on within the metal world. Their music had an everlasting effect on metal, and even though I don't like pure Death Metal, I can definitely pay my respect to the man and all he did while he was still alive. A true pioneer that influenced the metal scene for years and will continue to inspire metal musicians. Chuck will always be a metal legend.
