New star wars movie in 2015.

Thats nice, but, I still want my hover board, damn it.

Anyways. Thoughts? It will be Episode 7. I am pretty sure, that Fox will be distributing them still. Same with, Paramount, if another Indiana Jones movies gets made.

I was just reading about this and am just shocked about the whole thing. Aside from Disney paying $4+Billion for Lucas Films and have planned an Episode 7 already, but just the fact that Disney now owns the right to not just Marvel but also Lu us Films.

They also obtained rights for Indiana Jones. I read earlier that George Lucas had five Indiana Jones's in plans initially. This news might garner some additional business for Harrison Ford. What comes to Star Wars, well, I'm happy about this news. Mickey Mouse will be in the dark side...
Whoops, I should've put the spoiler tags to that. confused

I am hesitantly optimistic about this. With Lucas taking a backseat roll and ILM getting the billion dollar backing by Disney, things may eventually straighten out. Lucas was an independent business man who did whatever the hell he wanted without a care, Disney is a multi-billion dollar industry with analysts out the wazoo who wouldn't dare alienate the base. Admittedly, I am somewhat scared, but Disney has treated Marvel well, so I'm hopeful.

Disney has fucked up a lot of good stories.

I have no doubts they'll fuck up this one.

I thought that this was some sort of weird Halloween trick thing when I first saw it. I think that Disney is getting Lucas Films for a steal. 4 billion? The next trilogy of movies could make half of that back alone. Then you have merchandising, TV shows, Indiana Jones and whatever else LF makes.

Good deal for Mickey and Co, but dang... Disney owns ESPN, ABC, Pixar, Marvel and Lucas Films? That's a heck of a lot, and I'm sure there's even more that I don't know about or haven't thought of.

As for Star Wars, I'm pretty excited. It's not as though Lucas has had the midas touch with this series since the first iteration of the original trilogy. The changes to the original trilogy, the new trilogy (especially Episode 1)... I can see a new trilogy with a new director and writer having a ton of potential.

With George taking a back seat maybe Disney will listen to fans and give everyone what they've been wanting for a long time, an HD remastered version of the original trilogy on Blu-Ray.

Maybe a story about Han Solo finally.

Or that Mickey Mouse is really the force itself.

You know, at first I was like "What? No. This is just crazy.", but then I'm now more and more excited about this. This can either be REALLY good for the Star Wars franchise, or they can totally bomb it. (Even more then what Lucas did with the prequels). I'll be keeping a very optimistic attitude with the entire thing.

We'll see what Disney has in store for the force.

You mean more fucked up than it already is? Because George Lucas did a fine job doing that all on his own.

You just gave me a great idea. How about the next game LucasArt's makes is a Star Wars vs Marvel fighting game!

Since it is Episode VII I'd like it to be a complete departure from all the characters we once knew. I'd like a clean slate, and a new story. Star Wars has so much potential, it would be really cool to see where the series goes.

Story idea.

The Jedi Order is being/has been reestablished along with a new Republic. Maybe some old Imperials (almost every Post Ep VI expanded thing includes them) come out of hiding when they think everyone has forgotten about them to try and reestablish the Empire, and maybe one of the new Jedi is corrupted by the force ghost of Palpatine and starts going all Sith on the Order (unless you want another secret apprentice like TFU had).

That's just my idea

This is a must. Ford and Fisher would be nice to see in smaller roles, but I think Hamill is key. It's the Skywalker Saga, after all. And the guy deserves it.

The main difference is that those old people were probably worried that the prequel trilogy would tarnish the good name of the series

Whereas now, you're probably worried that the sequel trilogy would tarnish an already semi-tarnished name.

If this is in regards to Episodes 1-3, I'd like to point out that he wrote all 6 at the same time, in multiple drafts, in fact. You're pretty much just saying the story starts off bad and gets good towards the middle.

Episodes 1-3 sucked because somewhere between 1977 and 1999 Lucas stopped taking advice and lost his ability to direct. Now he has someone that will tell him when something sucks and will hire other directors. Lucas, after the Original Trilogy, had enough money to do whatever the hell he wanted and didn't give a damn about what anyone else thought. That mentality, hopefully, is gone now that he isn't in control. They can turn the reigns over to somebody who will take the fans into account, rather than just what Lucas wants.

Also, If I recall, Lucas actually has a feud with the Directors Guild and wouldn't hire any of them.So now, that's probably over. Also, we have a huge selection of new directors who grew up during the Star Wars era. Imagine letting a fanboy like Jon Favreau or J.J. Abrams direct. They wouldn't dare do anything to incur the wrath of the fan or harm something they themselves loved. Honestly, I loved Abrams work on Star Trek, and I'd love to see what he could do with Star Wars. However, Disney could always hire one of Lucas's contemporaries, imagine this -

"Star Wars Episode VII: The Rise of Thrawn"

Written By Timothy Zahn & George Lucas

Directed by Ridley Scott

Sounds sort of Epic, no?
