what i mean is do you perfer pink floyed another brick in the wall or korns version of the same song and not remixes of the same song like rollin by limp bizkit which has like 5 different versions.

here are remade songs that i enjoy
korn - another brick in the wall
murderdolls - white wedding.
mudvayne - king of pain.
marilyn manson - sweet dreams are made of this.

so do you perfer the originals or the remakes of the songs you enjoy. feel free to post remade song you enjoy. also i perfer remakes of songs.

I'll just say this: It should be a federal offense to cover any Queen song.

It depends on who's covering compared to the original.

For example, I enjoy Zebrahead's Panty Raid album more than any individual song on there by the original artist. I also prefer the cover they did with the Matches of Oingo Boingo's Violent Love when compared to the original. But if somebody I didn't like already is covering a song I already knew, I'll hate it off the bat

Some bands are excellent at doing covers, for example The Offspring's cover of anything.

some are not, for example when Killswitch Engage covered "Holy Diver"

I dont know what formula they are getting right, but Cradle of Filth jsut seem to do covers that blow me away. Thir best covers include:

- No time to cry (sisters of Mercy)
-Mr. Crowley (Ozzy)
- Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden)
-Hallowed be thy Name (Iron Maiden)

Just recently got hooked on them due to their covers. Im still adjusting to the growling vocals, but Im really liking them so far.

Original songs by them I like are:

-Under Pregnant SKies She Comes Alive like Miss Leviathan
-Her Ghost in the Fog
-Cruelty Brought thee Orchids
-Rise of the Pentagram
-Libertina Grimm

Still in the process of listening to their whole Library.

I think it would disturb me greatly to learn of the existence of a person who actively and indiscriminately seeks out only remade songs. tongue

Normally I prefer the original songs, however, I do not hate on remakes because they are remakes. I will just judge a song on whether or not it is good, not on whether or not it is original.

Two remakes that come to mind that I like are actually both cover songs of the Smiths. One is "How Soon Is Now" done by t.A.T.u. and the other is "This Charming Man" done by Death Cab For Cutie.

Usually I like the originals better, especially for classic rock (Beatles, Zep, Queen, you get the idea) but some songs are different. I like the Reel Big Fish cover of "We hate it when our friends become successful" compared to the original because it's more cheerful, but that's just one rare case.

I prefer both. For example, there are some bands that can pull off great covers. And, in other cases, some bands should not cover originals. In other words, it depends on the situation.

Bullet for my Valentine's cover of Domination by Pantera was just terrible.
Metallica's cover of DiamondHead's Am I evil? is greatly done.
Oh and I'm In a band now that is doing covers of Metallica and Megadeth.

Remade: Here's my reason.

Disturbed did a couple of albums with a couple of remade songs by several different artists. For example

Shoutz 2000- Artist Unknown- I have heard the original version before, and trust me there is one, my cousin listened to it on the radio and I liked to have died!!! (I secretly hate pop music, I just don't prefer to tell her). Anyway, this song sounded better for some reason. Maybe it's because they lived up to the title of the song and actually shouted

Land of Confusion- Genesis- I've heard this song countless times and have enjoyed their style of music with this song, it matches the album title (Ten Thousand Fists), thoughts (War) and sound. Genesis may have done a good version, but Disturbed did one better.

Living After Midnight- Judas Priest- Overall, I kinda liked the song, but some you just don't touch. This was one of them.

Bad Company- Five Finger Death Punch (Originally by Bad Company)- This was one of those songs that you heard the beginning and you were instantly hooked. And it must have been good when my mom hears them for the first time and likes the band!!! Am I shocked? Hell Yeah!!!

I have heard a few more before (HIM did one with a previous 80s singer, some pop singer did Marilyn Manson's Beautiful People in the movie Burlesque. And don't say it isn't in there. I saw a movie preview on TV one night with that same song playing in the background but done by a pop singer.

I agree with some of the remade songs, but only if some of the songs can be done to where it sounds like them. Korn and Pink Floyd Another Brick in the Wall is a good example. Korn is heavy metal, Pink Floyd is classic, but back then, they were rock and roll. It fits. My only suggestion. If a band should remake a song, do it to where it sounds like the bands style of music. The band should not change the sound of their music just to do one song.
