Nintendo games are...different. They are all wonderful, and Nintendo knows fun, but some games are just weird. It would feel wrong to play Nintendo games on anything but a Nintendo system.
So to repeat, No.
I say, if nintendo ever goes broke they should just give up the fight, and let themselves and all their characters fade into legends where they belong.
One more time: NO!
(The opinion of a dedicated Nintendo fan.)

If anything they should still stay with their base of people who are faithfully loyal to the games that they put out. It would be intersting to see Nintendo create a seperate subsidiary of it's company. It would be totaly driven towards the development of titles that catier to an older audience. Possibly it could have expanded online capabilities as well. The company would have it's own develpoment department and it would create it's own consoles in addition to it's own brand of games.
Think of it like this. This new company would serve the needs of those gamers who rely on XBox and PS2 to provide and not have to think about relating to the kiddies and think about the harcorde gamers who want more of what the other systems have. Titles like any Tom Clancy game or the titles that wouldn't otherwise do business with Nintendo.
And the good thing for Nintendo would be that the company would be apart if it so a percentage of profits would go to them. It's really the only way they can stay loyal to their base whaile giving into the fact that gamers these days want what the other systems give them. There's no way they are going to do it with their next console, so why not set up a new one that actually will?

I was gonna say something like that but I didn't wanna hear all the 'No. GC sold 20982084209824 units and growing jajajajajaja'. U summed it up nicely.

However, this discussion comes at an interesting time. For everyone out there who has continued to stand behind Nintendo (much like myself) despite all of their questionable ideals, bow your heads in a moment of silence.
Silicon Knights has cut its second-party status with Nintendo. A sad day for Nintendo fans, indeed.

I swear it's gettin harder and harder to stick with Nintendo every time they screw up in the directions they take. I can't believe I stuck around when they chose to stay with cartirages for the N64.

The N64 was actually decent. Great wrestling games, good games with *gasp* blood in them, and still had the collection of 'under 12' games.

as for the news on Silicon Knights... they say that the exclusivity contract ended not that SK is leaving Nintendo indefinately... I'm hearing all sorts of shit My favorite being that this announce ment is acctually an INSANITY EFFECT to promote the realease of Eternal Darkness 2 likely but not probable...

I used to be like the people that said no here on this thread, up until a few months ago and even now looking at Nintendo E3 list and igncube's release list which both are very thin. I am a huge fan of gamecube. It is the system that I buy most of my games on. Unlike so many other gamecube owners, I buy mostly 3rd party games. Gamecube is becoming a uninteresting system as of late to me. I mean 3rd party support is almost gone 100%. I think that Nintendo should go out of bussiness or go to 3rd party ,since 9 times out of 10 the only gamecube games that do sell on the system are 1st party games. Too many a lot of gamecube owers think of Nintendo systems( the N64 and gamecube) as a Nintendo system, as they only buy 1st party games and 2nd party games, thus killing the system without 3rd party support. As many gamers know that it takes a perfect mixure of 1st , 2nd and 3rd party games on a system. Don't get me wrong I do think Nintendo is a good conpany but as of late they haven't done much in the gaming world and they have lost tons of support from 3rd party game makers. As a gamer that has a gamecube and Playstation 2 ,that mostly has bought games mostly on gamecube, the PS2 ( also Xbox if I had one) is starting to get most of the games. If people don't treat Nintendo hardware like gaming systems and be open to all games instead of just awaiting for the next mario game , Nintendo will go the way of Sega.
No.

ghostdragon Wrote: Oh I'm not knocking the N64! Great system. But it cost them more to make the cartirages than it would have if they went to cds. I wouldn't have minded the loading. GD |
Don't you know the story; I thought everyone did.
I'll tell it, but I'll make it short.
Nintendo knew CD's were the wave of the future, so it contracted out other companies to make a CD upgrade to the SNES. But, for one reason or another, both companies pulled out and decided to pull out and release their CD add on as a stand alone system. One was the flop Phillips CDi, the other was the "Nintendo Killer" Sony Playstation(ironic isn't it).
Well, Nintendo was in a bind. Their new system was not only gone, but released as a competitor. Nintendo had nothing to compete with. It did the best it could, as quickly as it could. It didn't have time to research CD technonogy so it went with what it knew, cartridges.
