Or do you believe that, in reality, your voice will never be heard? As wars rage one and corruption spreads, destroying age-old values and beliefs, those who remain seem to either give up or take a defensive stance, but, in all truth, shouldn't they fight back and be the aggressors? Is value so easily destroyed? Do you think that one person can make a difference in the world? Tell me what you think. Fatality.

Everyone has the potential to change the world; it depends how far you're willing to go to make your voice heard. It's usually inspiration and leadership that lead to change. Look at people like Martin Luther King, Jr. or Ghandi; they were individual people who lead their respective causes to great achievements.

Definitely.

I'm pretty sure that once WWIII ends/begins via a nuclear bomb, it'll be 'cause of the actions of ONE person who decided to launch it.

Yes. One person can change the world and I had about the same example in mind as MKS.

I'm not sure what is meant by the initial posting. Has it ever not been this way? Wars have been waged for centuries, cultures and religions have evolved for millennia and out of the ashes of destruction, something new has arisen each time. Mankind is hard to kill.

Someone once said that you can't change the world until you change yourself. I believe that.

Cheers,
VQ

PS: By the way MKS that girl in your sig is HOT!

I just realized something: it's a whole lot easier for one person to change the world in a negative way than in a positive way.

Absolutely. Although xcarnagex is right (is easier to be bad than good), one person can change the beliefs and ideas of lots pf people thus changing the world. Be positive and don't give up! =)

I think that definitely one person can change the world. But it's all about situation. In some situations it might be nigh on impossible for one person to do something, but still possible. In some situations one person can inspire dozens more to rise up.

There's a difference between "saving" the world and changing" it. When you think about it, everyone has "changed" the world in one way or another, just by interacting with other people. Remember Newton's old theory "every action has an equal yet opposite reaction"? Well when you do something and it causes a reaction, that reaction causes another reaction, and so on. We are changing the world in ways we can't even imagine. Change- real, significant change- usually doesn't happen in the blink of an eye; it's all part of a chain reaction.

Here's a perfect example. In 1914 a Serbian anarchist named Gavrilo Princip assassinated the archduke of Austria, causing World War 1. During WW1, Russia had a revolution, and the communists took over. But we'll get back to that. After WW1, the world's nations left many loose ends, particularly in Germany, which was devastated, and given little to no aid in rebuilding. Hitler to the rescue! He blames the Jews, starts shit with the world again, and bang! Here comes WW2. After that, Europe is devastated; cummunist Russia siezes the oportunity to gain control of eastern Europe. Communism then spreads to Asia, specifically China and Korea. We fight the Korean war. We fight in Vietnom. We support Iraq in its war with Iran, because the commies are supporting Iran. Later Saddam invades Kuwait, because he did bad shit in the past and we turned our back, he thinks that will happen again. Of course, he's wrong; enter Gulf War. The US and Iraq hate each other for over a decade after that, then Bush Jr. gets into office, and decides to finish his daddy's job. See, it's all connected. And it's all thanks to Gavrilo Princip- just one guy. He wasn't famous, he wasn't powerful; he was just mad, and he had a gun.

Yes I person can change the world, as you see today its mainly in a bad way. Prime examples that is causing this or caused it in the past, bin Laden, Sadaam, Adolf Hitler, are a few. But I think there might be someone in the world with a positive way that can change the world.

Considering that the Earth has been plugging along just fine for 4 billion years, and humans have only really been major players for the past ten thousand or so, I don't think we stand a chance.

Can 1 person change the world? Just think back 9/11, all it took was 1 person to come up with the idea for the overall plan, and from that day the world changed forever.

I think it is easier to change only a certain region (e.g. your own country) then the whole world.

Some of you said that 9/11 changed the world, it did not, it changed America, the Middle East and Europe. But it did not change Africa. That's not the whole world.

As for changing it all by yourself, yes it is possible. As someone said already, one man launching a Nuke can change the world forever.
