I don't think a patch isn't going to fix things, the patches might be able to help, but the core problem seems to be the servers and netcode.

I just remembered when my dauntless brother crawled through a 5-10m long natural tunnel between two layers of ice on a rapid and got out of another hole when we were kids. That looked dangerous yet exciting.
