So I have recieved a new HD TV, and an HDMI cable. At first I was like: Ok, that's cool. But then after getting it all set up and playing Mortal Kombat (resolution at 1080p), I was like: Holy sh** that looks so good! Crisp graphics.

I'm going to say a cut above most games except the mighty 3, and of course, winner and still reigning champion, 2. It's quite good. Downside is monster design sucks.

On that note, everybody stay the hell away from HD collection. Shit's awful.

Why is the HD collection bad?

Jesus Christ, the Silent Hill 3 new voice-overs are just horrific. Heather does not sound like a teenager, and has no emotion in her voice.
And Douglas's voice does not match his physique at all.

The difference is that they have a right to be whiny. That ending renders the entire trilogy pointless.

What difference? Oh, the ending fucked everyone's hard playing abilities? So what, there's no difference if you succeeded in making the developers suddenly cave into the constant whining and bitching.

One of my college advisers, who I'm friends with on Facebook since he has a lot of insight on stop-motion animation, wrote this that I 100% agree with:

The game industry is now following the film industry in bowing to pressure. Whatever happened to an artist telling a story? I recognize that gaming needs a fan's first person perspective - but to redeal the ending is the worst kind of self censoring.

Very rarely do games tell stories and not have it get changed because the fans are arguing about its ending or some random character that they want in it. Games like Bioshock and Diablo show that the fans aren't in control of what they want to see in the next game if there is any.

But in Mass Effect, one lousy ending, doesn't matter if all of what you do in the game makes a difference, one lousy ending pissed off people, they're upset and complain about it. I see no difference than what MK fans do or other games that has a HUGE fan base and the fans are in control of the game more than the actual developers.

Ridiculous

There's a ton of reasons. Some of the most prominent being:

On the PS3, massive widespread stuttering, hitching and framerate drops, descending with slowdown to near unplayable levels once certain monsters show up in SH3. A first day patch has been released to address these. It did nothing. I've read this isn't as bad on the 360.

Major reduction of fog effects, especially in SH2. Like, everywhere. Doesn't sound like too big of a deal, but that fog's necessary. The game world's geometry was built around its prevalence. With less fog, you start to see the edges of the game world. And how the water really looks under there.

-Missing self-shadowing effects on characters. This, along with the newfound crispness of the graphics, has the effect of making the game feel a whole lot brighter on the whole. Not in a good way either; a lot of people are describing the graphics as washed out, and flat, can see where they're coming from.

-Really awful new voiceovers (and unnecessary occasional background noise changes to go with them accompanying the arranged music). While I can understand that the death of one of SH3's original cast prevented them from reusing the voice track, I don't get why that means the rest of the cast's recordings couldn't have been included barring that one. SH2 does come with the option to use the original voice track, but there are a ton of syncing issues with it. One guy on the above NeoGAF thread I've linked said he heard a puking sound effect start looping...fifteen minutes after the scene had played.

Loading issues too; the infamous Pyramid Head mannequin rape scene gets its opening few seconds cut off by loading time, (which has led to a bit of not unfounded speculation that it was actually censored, lolz)
