Is there something that someone would be interested to know about why drugs are a bad thing? Generally I would advice not to use marijuana. However, I'd also generally advice not to eat people but in an extreme special situation, I'd support that. The aftermath of some marijuana debate seems to be going on in which I hadn't got the time to join.


I have to clear up that I'm not exactly irrationally conservative here, as one could think. A friend of mine smokes pot, went to the non-military service instead of to the army and is a downright activist on the go. I approve his doings in the long shot, but I have my reasons for why I won't smoke. I don't want to get a criminal record nor do I have a passion to campaign the legalization of marijuana. The politicians had their reasons when they decided to make marijuana illegal, it's not that they were poorer then.
I have never tried grass, even when I have had the chance to try even the finest Moroccoan cannabis. I have some friends who smoke pot, but I just don't do it. I know basically everything of it – the cultivars, the constitutes, the differences with alcohol etc. – so I know what we're talking about.
Now, what if Scott gets addicted to it and one day, one day, he'll have an inescapable desire to satiate his needs and he's got a short walk to the nearest drug shop to buy some synthetic substitute? His girlfriend just had cheated on him. Would he take it? Scott's got an inescapable desire. Synthetic substitutes, especially mixed with alcohol, give a similar high to the pot high but are much worse to your body, lethal at the worst, and may trigger new addictions, troubles and unexpectable, risky, lethal behavior.
I'm not trying to start a debate out of nowhere, not by any means: what I'm pointing out is that marijuana doesn't play a big role in thriving with your long-term goals and people tend to underestimate the midlife happiness you'll get after hard work and determination. There are more bad examples than good ones, but one can't generalize. My advice: know yourself – don't rush into things – restrain at times. Just know yourself.
