That case puzzels me. Usually when a mass shooting happens the shooter kills themselves, this guy didn't. He didn't even resist arrest. Then the fact that there is no motive.

Still, very strange...

Everyone has a different coping mechanism to tragedies, so don't assume that the people making jokes are heartless assholes who don't care or don't understand the gravity of situation. Personally, as a someone who tries to see the best in people and make light of the dark situations, I'm a riot at funerals, and I believe the best way to get over something isn't to break down and cry about it. Obviously, that's not everybody's thought, but clearly I'm not the only one who thinks it.

Just because his mother thought he had some sort of mental instability doesn't mean she thought he'd booby trap his own apartment with enough explosives to destroy his, as well as the neighbouring, building, and go on a rampage to kill people during the premiere of a film. Who in their right mind would ever assume that anybody, especially their own child, would actually do something so evil? Expressing no surprise that he did it doesn't mean she thought he would. Also, keep in mind that his parents live in another state.

I live in Colorado Springs on the east side of town. The fire didn't get close enough to me, and I'm about 70 miles away from the area the shooting took place.

On that note if I happened to be in a theater during such a situation I would have returned fire. I don't know if the area was in Denver County or not, but you are not allowed to carry a gun in Denver county. No one was capable of putting that guy down and now so many are dead. I'm going to write a thread about my opinions on this today at some point because I feel it might be beneficial to anyone who wants to know more about the subject, and what to do if they find themselves in such a situation.
