I was pleasantly surprised how well Croatian girls fought against the US girls in basketball. They lost convincingly in the end (as expected), but for the first 3 quarters they were holding their own. Not a bad start considering it's their first time ever at Olympics. Handball Cro-girls disappointed against Brazil, they lost by one goal. It's not a terrible result since both teams are pretty much equally strong, but the way they played was disappointing, too many errors. Though, it's their first time at the Olympics too.

In tennis, Ivan Dodig (CRO), as expected, lost to Juan Marting Del Potro (ARG) in straight sets. Roger Federer struggled against Alejandro Falla from Colombia, same guy that already once before nearly eliminated Roger in Wimbledon. Finally, Serena Williams crushed Jelena Janković in straight sets. Oh and, oh my, Petra Kvitova has gained some significant weight, she doesn't look fit at all. There's no way she's winning a medal.

I finished the first day watching a great women's volleyball match between Brazil and Turkey. It was a great match, Brazil (favorites) won 3-2 [25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-27, 15-12]. They should have won easier to be honest, they were up by 5-6 points mid-way through the 4th set and had a match point later on, but Turkish girls kept on fighting (their team spirit is impressive). All the other volleyball games on day one were disappointing straight-forward wins.

Nice start on day 2 for Croatia though, our men's waterpolo team beat Greece 8-6 and our men's handball team beat Korea Republic 31-21. We have great expectations from both these teams as both are among the favorites to win the gold medal, so it's a nice start for them against tricky opponents.

A good match today in men's volleyball tournament as United States face Serbia. Should be an exciting match!

I've had friends walk out of my life before, but no matter how often it happens, no matter how distant we've grown, it always hurts when reconnecting's impossible. It's been an annoying month for that, and the work hours aren't doing me any favours.
