I'm in the beginnings of learning German. I've decided to learn it because my boyfriend can speak it fluently and his mother was born in Germany and lived there until she was 20. I think it would be a good way for me to connect with her. So I bought an audiobook, a book of 501 verbs which includes the past, present, and future conjugations, and the newest version of Webster's German dictionary. It's kind of hard so far, but not as hard as I was expecting. But still, wish me luck.

Same situation with me, but I got to learn Portuguese. Know about 30% of it.

I barely slept last night. I normally go to bed sometime between 11:30 - midnight, but it was past 12:30 and I was still up. Something (don't know what) wouldn't let me have peace of mind, and I had this feeling that something was wrong. A few minutes before 1 a.m. a 5.6 magnitude earthquake rocked Nicaragua, one of Honduras' neighboring countries. Now, there have never been any earthquakes IN Honduras, but sometimes they're so hard that we kinda feel 'em. Unless history proves me wrong, I think that what happened earlier today is the strongest the Earth has ever moved here. So after that happened, ya'll can see why I barely slept after that.

People think animals know when something bad is coming. Perhaps there is something in the magnatism, or a very high pitched sound/vibration that you can't really feel phsycially, but you can hear without realizing what you're hearing, if that makes sense.
You can't 'hear' it, you can't 'feel' it, but your senses can, and that makes you alert to 'something' being wrong.
But who knows? I do bitches, and I'm not telling.

So last night, my boyfriend called me, and I told him about me learning German. Well his reaction to it was positive, but he made me feel really stupid. Like I didn't know anything. He starts lecturing me on it, and different parts of the language. I just started yesterday, I only know the colors, days, months, directions, and the alphabet. Along with some verbs and pronunciations. Then he started like saying things in German and then asked me what they meant as a joke. But it wasn't funny. I was doing this for him and his mom. Because I wanted to be a sweet girlfriend. But now I'm considering ditching the whole idea if this is how I'm gonna be made to feel. Despite the fact that it was unintentional it still made me feel stupid.

Ah, the things we do for friends... I'm watching the 2006 Chinese New Year Global Gala DVD that my coworker Suzhen wanted me to see *yawn* It's the Year of the Dog - woof!!
Speaking of languages, I'd sure like to learn Mandarin if I had the time. From what I know of it, it's a helluva lot easier than Japanese. I mean, you have to think backwards to speak Japanese. Well, English is probably backwards to them.
Speaking of things of Japan, my Dad and I ate at this Japanese restaurant that's like two minutes away from my new apartment. They got some kickass sushi!! I am so set in my new neighborhood!!

Awesome. When I moved into my new place last July, I found a really kick ass Japanese place. I usually get General Tso's, but this place has General Tso's Special, which is chicken and shrimp. Man, life is good sometimes.

If life were truly good I wouldn't be allergic to seafood and I could try that General Tso's Special. It sucks living in Maryland and being allergic to seafood. I would kill for a crabcake
EDIT: Dammit, now I can't stop thinking about shrimp. Sometimes when things are slow at work, I go into the break room and tune in the Food Network. One of my favorite cooking shows is "Everyday Italian" with Giada di Laurentis. During one episode she made shrimp fra diablo - pan-fried shrimp with red pepper flakes. OMG that stuff looked so good...
But how would I know if it's good if I never had shrimp before? Actually, I did. That was when I found out I was allergic. My face swelled up and it felt like my windpipe had constricted to the size of a drinking straw. That was after eating only two shrimp. What did I think of it at the time? Eh, I was 10 years old. I'm sure it was low on my list of favorite foods. But were I to try it now, I might think differently. Problem is my antibody titer skyrocketed as I grew up. One shrimp probably would be enough to kill me.
All I can say is thank God for artificial crab. California roll is without question my favorite sushi, when made correctly: Crab, avocado and scallions (no mayonnaise!) wrapped in seaweed, then rolled in rice, salmon roe and toasted sesame seeds. Good eatin'

That really sucks. Shrimp is an awesome food. Frozen, fried, whatever. Shrimp aside, it's General Tso's or bust with me. I never stray from that, which is probably a shame, but Tso's and shrimp/chicken fried rice can't be beat.

Going on a mini road trip tomorrow and won't be back until late Thursday afternoon, so I'm sorry to say I won't be able to answer any booty calls until then.
