Even if you had the money, would you buy something ridiculously overpriced?

About Me

Why care about people if they're not bloody and on your carpet right now?

I'm watching the typical 'The fabulous life of...' special on VH1 right now and I learned something that's a new fun fact for me: One bottle of Crystale (the famous champagne) is about $6500, at least in the club.
This forced me to make this topic. Although every bit of logic in my mind would tell me not to buy a bottle even if hypothetically I was extremely wealthy and could afford it no problem, the curiosity would be killing me. The exact phrase "Just one time..." pops up in my head...
So we go right back to the question in the topic. There's a lot of stuff you can apply this to. If you need help spotting overpriced stuff, you can use the standard I'm following: If you think the particular object should give you superpowers at that price. This is if you know you can get the same thing (or effect) for a far cheaper price.
Also, what is Crystale made from, grapes and Super Soldier serum?

Watching that show ("The Fabulous Lives of...") is one of those things that pisses me off and saddens me at the same time. The ammount of money they have and what they spend it on truly is ridiculous.

As for me, no, I wouldn't spend the money that way even if I had it. But then again, a shirt that costs over $60 or a pair of jeans that cost over $100 is, IMO, "ridiculously overpriced."

Tell me about it. I always get envious while watching that show, and at some point in every episode, I say to myself that they should have called this: "Ha Ha! You're poor!" I'm not poor, but damn...
The envy fades though. I agree with you on the money. Half the stuff they spend it on would have made me feel like a jackass inside. Can't knock 'em though. Most of the stars in that series earned their money, no matter what people's personal opinions of them are... but I would never get a chinchilla bikini...or that bottle of Crystale...

1)It's not envy. Why would I buy those bottles of Crystale if all I drink is Vodka & Tequila.

B)I agree with you when you say that MOST of 'em have earned their money. I know I should post it in that LOL 50 Cent thread, but anyways, I really don't get how he could have that much money after ONE top-selling CD that had ONE good song (that got old pretty quick) and a couple of so-so tracks.

Even if I had an unlimited amount of money, I wouldn't want the corporate elitist douchebags selling that shit to get their hands on my money. What pisses me off is the need people seem to have for that kind of status symbol; it's all "look at me, I have enough money to piss it away, who gives a fuck if I could get something just as effective for a tenth the cost." If you want to flaunt your wealth, start a charity foundation or something and name it after yourself. Your name will last longer if it's associated with a foundation that helps the poor, or the sick, or whatever, than if it's associated with a fleet of yachts.

even though i dont have much money i buy rediculously overpriced videogames, play them a bit, then dont touch them for 2 years. Then i play them for about an hour and dont play them again for another year.

anyways back to the point, i would not buy a $6500 bottle of champagne or a $50 burger
