Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee will once again script a story for his flagship character, in a new mini-series entitled "Spider-Man: The End", which will showcase the characters final days.

Lee and artist Steve Dikto created the character in the 1960's and he went on to script over 100 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man.

An artist has yet to be announced.

Well, ladies and gents, the Spider-Man saga from whence it first started with Stan Lee in the 1960s and has continued to this day will finally come to an official end.

I mean, sure, there'll still be more movies, cartoons, and OTHER comics, but the OFFICIAL storyline that Stan Lee started will finally come to an end, thus will the wall crawler finally be laid to rest.

I say it's a good thing. They've done all they can with it and now they can end it and be proud.

This should be very interesting. I doubt this will effect the current Amazing Spider-man comics. It has been awhile though for Lee to write anything so he's probably going give this one his all. Personally I hope Jon Romita Jr. ends up doing the art.

Hmmm...sad news indeed. I haven't been keeping up with spider-man comics .I'm about 9 years behind. But if it must end let it end with pride. I really like Al rios art. They should give it to him.

For those not familiar with all "The End" comic series Marvel releases, lemme explain a bit:

Basically, it's a stand alone mini-series that depicts how a certain chararcter/team dies. So far they've done it with Hulk, Wolverine, the entire Marvel Universe, and MAYBE a few more (not sure if "X-Men: The End" is already out).

This DOES NOT mean that the current Spider-Man comic book series will cease to exist. All three Spider-Man ongoing series (Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man) will continue to be, and until Marvel Comics closes its doors, there will ALWAYS be a Spider-Man ongoing series. This "The End" mini-series is just their way of showing how he'll die, but either way, it makes no sense to do so since he (along with everybody else) already died in the "Marvel Universe: The End" mini-series.

Win lose or draw (no pun intended), this should be a great read...

MKS, what you say, is that it's kinda like the 'What If' series, which I used to read. Like 'What if...Wolverine married Rouge' and stuff..

In any event, Spiderman has always been a conflict of person interests, Mary Jane or Spiderman, Aunt Mae or Spiderman, save the burning building or be with the one you love....His end can only be as painful as his journey, and even if it's not the 'end', it should still be a great great read.

For some unknown (but truly annoying furious) reason, we only got the first 2 (of 6) issues of this mini-series here in Honduras, but what happens in the first two issues was fuckin' awesome, so here goes:

ISSUE 1:
An ancient pharaoh named Akhenaten mysteriously returns to Earth, and a select few individuals become aware of his presence (Professor X, Thor, Thanos, among others). Xavier and Phoenix attempt to contact this being, only to be killed along with the rest of the X-Men. Akhenaten then kidnaps all the world leaders and informs them that he will be the ruler of the world, and that all diseases (AIDS, cancer, etc.) have been eradicated. Akhenaten later "offers" the Avengers and the Fantastic Four the chance to become his bodyguards, but when the Thing hits him, he kills them all too. He later places all their bodies in plastic, cross-shaped containers on the buildings in New York (Spider-Man and Daredevil witness this). Thanos decides to organize an emergency "team" to fight Akhenaten, and this team consists of Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Namor, the Hulk, and the Silver Surfer. At the same time, Dr. Doom decides to spy on Akhenaten to try to gain more knowledge about him.

ISUUE 2:
Thor and Zeus rendezvous with several gods in order to try to devise a plan to defeat Akhenaten. They learn about his history (he was an ancient Pharoah who was abducted by the Celestial Order, who gave him omnipotent power) and see him perform the darkest feat possible, the destruction of a spirit (that's right, no more after-life for the killer of Akhenaten's son). Akhenaten knew all along that the gods were spying on him so he kills them all (except Zeus and Thor, who escape).

If ANYBODY knows what happened in the next 4 issues, PLEASE PM me or post the detailed summaries here.

The difference between these mini-series and the "What If..." series is that these stories are supposed to be set IN continuity. These events WILL happen (or so they say), some in the future, and some not so far down the line. But like I said, that one mini-series, "Marvel Universe: The End" basically contradicts it all. Still a good read, though.

I don't know what happened during the Marvel Universe: End series but I have the last issue. Thanos becomes omnipotent and accidetnly kills everything leaving only him and a black void. He finally realizes that his life has been meaningless and sacrifices himself to restore the universe and everyone in it like nothing happened.
So it really wasn't the end of the Marvel Universe.

Meh...I don't think I like that ending... it's awesome that Thanos simply accidentally kills everything and now he's the only thing left in the universe. But that he can simply sacrifice himself, thus restoring the universe to it's former self... I dunno, sounds too happy. The first two issues sound AMAZING, though.

U also gotta remember that the Hulk (not bruce banner), the fantastic four, and captain America where all killed by Onslaught... after they pulled Xavier out Bruce Banner seperated himself from the Hulk and the Hulk ripped Onslaughts armour off which left a void of power which hulk, FF, and Cap all jumped in to close and thus they died, but was *AMAZINGLY* resurected in later issues...

TECHNICALLY, they were "saved" at the last second by Franklin Richards, who put all of the people "killed" by the mutants (or so the humans who witnessed the event thoughtwhen they entered Onslaught) in an alternate reality (the "Heroes Reborn" universe).
