Ferguson and the Michael Brown shooting

posted11/26/2014 06:59 AM (UTC)bySo by now, I'm sure most people are aware, that the cop that shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO a few months ago has been cleared of any wrong doing in the case. Not surprisingly, many black communities are rioting and vandalizing their city, not just Ferguson.
I'm just sick of hearing about this. I understand the black community has deep emotions over decades of past racial discimination and injustices. But this case is not one to argue it over. Michael Brown walked into a convenient store, snatched whatever he felt like, choked the store owner, then shoved and punched multiple times the cop who tried to stop and question him.
This isn't an issue about race. I don't care of you're white, Asian, Indian, middle eastern etc. You do that to cop and your either going to get tackled or shot.
People are just looking for an excuse to act like animals and do whatever they want. This isn't what Martin Luthor King fought for, for people like All Sharpton to come and stir tentions with arguments about race. It also gives local police, state police and the national guard to come in and use more force andgainst these people as a justification.
Feel free to post your thoughts and lets keep the discussion civil.

It gives people an excuse to act like animals?
Really? Animals? Okay, we'll keep this civil.

I am only going to say this and then leave.
1.) I supprorted the cop 100%, because he did his job. He did not commit a hate crime.
2.) Sharpton and Jackson needs to go away, literally.
3.) Obama should have kept his damn mouth quiet. There was no need for our "lovely" president to get involved.
4.) Brown isn't innocent after seeing factual evidence that was provided. You want innocent? Take a look at all the children that got shot in Chicago these past few years. THAT is innocent.
5.) Fuck the media, just fuck the media. I'd like to know these people who are making pipe bombs for these riots, that's scary shit! But no, because I must be angry and continue to be living in a divided country because majority of the time, the media stirs the pot.
However I must congratulate all these people for earning their law degrees suddenly.
6.) Rioting and looting doesn't make your case stronger, it makes you look like vicious heathens. There is such a thing called "peace" unfortunately no one knows it, just like the meaning behind "racism."
7.) There is no need for protests all over this country. Hundreds of innocent people who died by gang violence/ thugs in my city never got their justice. I'd rather see people protest for them instead of protesting for a criminal. Because those kids will only be known as a statistic, while Brown here will go down looking like some kind of innocent hero, who so happened to roughened up a store clerk and put a cop in the hospital.
Yeah, that's all. Oh, and that cop's life is over. He will most likely go into witness protection or something.

Yes really. Every single person rioting over the grand jury's decision not to charge the cop is based on the single fact: cop was white, victim was black, he's guilty, end of story, don't need to look at the facts of the case. None of them want to look at the evidence, which is starting to come out now.
Rioting proves literally nothing. Even if we go under the "assumption" that the cop was wrong. What do people get out of it? Destroying their own community and businesses, and giving authority just another reason to move in and use more force to put them down. These people want to argue it's their right because decades of racial mistreatment. Like that somehow justify everything. That wasn't what the civil rights movement was about.
It should also be pointed out, that a lot of the people who are looting in ferguson aren't even from the area.
Also I completely agree with everything Icebaby said.
I'd also like to post this video: Milwakee Police interview.
While it doesn't pertain to the Michael Brown shooting, it is regarding a similar incident. I think it sums up perfectly the kinds of dangers cops have to deal with. While I happen to live in an area of the country where violent crime and gang violence isn't bad or common, other parts aren't so lucky. Also statistically poorer communities also seem to be the areas where violent crime rates are high.

All I will say is that I have never heard any Asian, Hispanic, or any minority group except one blame the white man for their hardships.
Stupid kid and a panicked cop, that's the story.
I don't feel that the Cop deserved any sort of legal punishment, because I believe he was fully within his rights as a police officer. However, the decision to make a kill shot, in my opinion, was an extreme one. If I were police Commissioner I'd probably demote him for it.
