The game is described as "an asymmetrical, co-operative and competitive multiplayer predator/prey horror experience that pits a small group of resourceful survivors against a single player in control of the immortal, relentless slasher icon."

Sigh...no single player it would seem. An official announcement is imminent.

Thoughts?

Interesting.

Saw a documentary not too long about the rise and fall of slasher films.

Comeback through different medium?

Maybe this game can solve a mystery Ive been asking about Jason for years. How in the movies Jason can walk very slowly towards his fast running victoms, and still appear out of nowhere keeping up to kill them? How does that work Jason. I'll most likely still get the game good or bad, just for old times sake.

Well prior to his resurrection in Jason Lives he wasn't limited to walking, IIRC after he was hung in part 3 is when he started only walking but from that point onward I am not sure, I don't think there is a real explanation behind how he catches them walking so slow other than to be more creepy and to give off the vibe that no matter how fast or far you run, he's going to get you lol

Anyway I was hyped for this but since it seems multiplayer only im not too sure, it would be nice if there is a single player mode though, then I would definitely pick it up.

- ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ Launches Kickstarter

Gun Media has launched a Kickstarter for “Friday the 13th: The Game” with a $700,00 goal. In the third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer title, one player will control Jason Voorhees while seven control camp counselors try to survive the night.

According to the Kickstarter’s official description, “‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ is a...1v7 multiplayer set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake! It’s a classic horror fan’s dream, no shaky cam, no found footage. We want you to know we’re revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment.”

The Kickstarter offers rewards between $5 and $10,000, from a “Be in the Game” option to an early bird copy of the game. The game will feature content “drawn straight from movies you know and love.”

The possibility of single player as stated on the games kickstarter...

"That really depends on where this Kickstarter campaign takes us. Summer Camp was originally conceived as a multiplayer title only, and thus was budgeted as such. It was only after taking on Friday the 13th that we really started to dream up plans to bring Jason to life in ways that everyone has wanted to experience (but no one has been able to create to date).

To that end, the proposed single player portion will give you the Jason experience you’ve never had; direct through his eyes. We’ll be offering several ‘scenarios’ based off classic movie scenes from the franchise as you stalk and kill each and every counselor from a first person perspective. Not to leave the counselors out, we’ll be adding several counselor scenarios where you’ll have to confront your fears and take on Jason directly, especially in compromising situations! We are not going for anything less than a Mature Rating on this; the franchise deserves it! These scenarios might also make their way to VR, and would bring an entirely new perspective to the slasher genre!"

Still bummed that this game is multiplayer focused, even the small bit of hope for single player sounds like its gonna be a tacked on, first person mode. We'll see how this all goes. The fact that they already more or less had a Friday the 13th game in development before they got the license is encouraging. Sadly, multiplayer or not,I'll probably end up with this either way, unless the word of mouth on the game is abysmal.

I know. I really want to donate, but what's holding me back is the aspect of the developers not earning enough for the Single Player, all the while I helped fund a game I have no intention of playing.

All I can do is wait and see, I suppose.

9 days remain for the Friday the 13th game kickstarter. So far they've raised a hair under $615,000. For those counting, that's $85,000 to go to make this a reality. Spread the word!

Also, single player ain't happening. They'd need to raise almost another million for that to happen, and unless someone's feeling saucy, that ain't happening in 9 days.

And with 3 days remaining, Friday the 13th has officially passed its goal of $700,000! From here on out everything else will go towards stretch goals(which are mainly extra kills). Happy to see this kick starter panned out.

New location and Kill revealed at PAX recently. This is being labeled as gameplay footage, but this stuff is really canned as all hell. For a game supposedly only 5 months out from release, this footage doesn't inspire much confidence. Maybe actual gameplay is being held out for E3? Time will tell.

The first actual gameplay for Friday the 13th has surfaced from E3. The footage shows gameplay from the perspective of Jason and a camp counselor. Jason seems to have major advantages over camp counselors. He can actually see where sounds are coming from, counselors turn red once seen ala enemies in Assassin's Creed. Oh, and he can also teleport.

The five minutes of gameplay can be seen here...

I still stand by my earlier statement, though. This footage looks incredibly rough, and I'll be shocked if this game isn't delayed into 2017. Still, the premise seems strong.

Like you said, it's still in early stages: but goddamn this looks like putrid ass.

I already see numerous problems with its gameplay.

One: It would be MUCH more immersive in first-person.

Two: Hiding will be useless. Jason players will eventually know every hiding spot. So unless Jason has a limit to what places to check (a guessing game, basically,) then expect to get killed every time.

I do want this to be a good game for Friday fans, but this isn't looking good.

Single player may not be dead yet!!!

Friday the 13th single player still a possibility.

Co-creator of the game envisions a Hitman-esque style of single player. Good lord I hope this happens!

A new trailer for "Friday the 13th: The Game" has popped up out of PAX over the weekend. The trailer in question concentrates on the many ways Jason will dispatch his victims.

Click for trailer!

The developers are still claiming an October 2016 release date. I, once again, don't see how the game will make that release. Still seems a bit clunky to me. Anyway, here's hoping if it does make October, we get a polished experience.

Is this exclusive to any particular system? Or are they doing the whole shebang?

That trailer was decent. If it's supposed to be released on current gen, it certainly needs polishing, but I like the premise and the dark, hallow atmosphere. *Edit* - okay so current gen lol. I might pre-order this.

As feared, Friday the 13th, much like it's theatrical counterpart, has been delayed until spring 2017. It's not all bad news, however. The developers have confirmed that a single player mode will indeed be added to the game!

Read the complete details here!

Bummed, but not surprised, about the delay. Super happy about single player being added, though. Preorder imminent.

Friday the 13th: The video game is finally set for digital release on May 26th.

Details Here

The game will launch with the 1 vs 7 multiplayer that's been advertised from the start. Single player will be added as a free update this Summer.

Hopefully the single player will be robust and worth the wait.

- Legal Claim Brings an Indefinite End to New ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ Content

We’ve now been forced to accept that the lawsuit makes future content for the game, including alternate play modes, new playable Jasons and Counselors, and new maps, unfeasible now or in the future. Although the listed content types will be affected, we remain committed to launching dedicated servers on our console platforms and providing the continued maintenance and bug fixing important to supporting our fan base.

So what does this mean exactly? There will be no additional content added to Friday the 13th: The Game. This includes “Uber Jason”, The Grendel Map, Jason Kill Packs, Clothing, Emotes and new Counselors.
