It's 2011, and we have come a long way with our technology for videogames. Sequels have been improved by all means necessary, and developers are making better games recently. I'm also happy that the Xbox360 and PS3 still have life left in them after all this time. While I'm not that big of a gamer as I used to be because of my (8-12hr a day and sometimes 14/day) job, I still have a lot of interest in games coming out for this year.


First and foremost, Mortal Kombat (9). I mean, this is the 90's all over again. Almost at 30 years of age, I feel like a teen again. MK is my favorite videogame franchise like most of us on the forum. This iteration is by far the best out of all, and the anticipation of playing it is killing.


Crysis 2 is next on my list. It has the most amazing graphics I have seen, mind you, I am not a PC gamer. I hear that Crysis 2 was dumbed down (visually) from the first game in order to be on par with consoles. Whatever the case, the direction the game is taking looks breathtaking. It is an FPS game where you wear this nanosuit that has superhuman powers to help stop an alien invasion in New York City. I have not been this impressed with a game in a very long time, it looks cinematic and the gameplay looks hordes of fun. You really gotta be blind not to see how awesome this game is.


Dead Space 2, another franchise that I fell in love with last year. I played and beat the first one, and it had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I had to take brakes every so often because sometimes it was too much lol. No really, this is one of those games where things pop out of nowhere and make you jump and scream like a girl. Well maybe not the last part, but you know what I mean. The necromorphs are the enemies in this game, who look like zombies but they're mutated humans who have been infected by aliens. The atmostphere of the game (Ishimura, a space craft in space) really makes you feel like you're all by yourself and sets the scary mood. A lot of dim lighting and moments where you don't expect what to happen.

The demo for the game is on the marketplace, give it a shot if you haven't. It is definitely worth trying.


Batman Arkham City, another sequel for a title who really brought justice to the characters persona. Arkham Asylum was the perfect Batman videogame. It let you be stealthy, the fighting system was simple yet very true to Batman's fighting style in the movies, and most important of all, let you play as the role of a detective. Voice casting and music was perfect. The Joker keeps insulting you and his minions throughout the whole game, and really keeps the game fresh with his jokes. While Arkham Asylum takes place on an island, Arkham City takes place in Gotham, where all the criminals have gone loose. I love the dark, rainy, smokey Gotham City atmosphere and flying around as Batman beating up thugs is gonna be hell of a lot of fun. Can't wait!
