Ghost in The Shell?

I seen an ad in a magazine that said this anime series starts 07.2004. Can some one tell me what Ghost in The Shell is about, it looks really good. Also, can some one tell me if its going to be on tv, or are they just going to put out DvDs? I am assuming they are going to be on tv, I just thougth I would ask. An info will be grateful.

I'd assume it's going to follow the same story as the movie.

What is that one robot that they find? They find it on the road, and then it "talks" to the main character telepathically(sp?). Is that the "head evil robot"?

I just get lost in the fine details of the movie.

The movie was based on the original story, but mainly focsed on the pshychological aspects of questioning ones humanity.

The new series, "Stand Alone Complex", is more like the original comic series.

That's because GitS was a major influence on the Wachowski brothers when they made the Matrix.

I highly recommend the movie, but only if you watch it subtitled. The voice acting is better and it makes a bit more sense.

major influence on the Wachowski brothers, more like they just blatently stole bits from it, for example the market scence in Matrix is practictly identical to the one in GitS.
