Dan Aykroyd has stated that Ghostbusters 3 is in production, but it is going to be cgi animated. Dan and Bill Murray are confirmed for it, although I don't know how much I'm going to like the animation bit. Also, the Ghostbusters game for 360 is being made as well. Post your thoughts. I myself was a HUGE GB fan back in the day, but I would much rather see a live action movie.

This is the 2nd best news I've heard this month. I was a huge GB fan back in the days too! First I heard TMNT is coming out in theatres along with a 360 game, now GB. It feels like a trip back to the old school. Can't wait.

I fucking LOVE ghostbusters, but I fucking HATE Cgi. And my hatred for CGI is bigger than my love for the busters, so fuck no.

A few years back, when the new GB game came out. I really got into the spirit of GB again, and made me really want them to make a new movie. So the pass few years, there's been talk, but nothing really has gotten moved along.

In my personal opinion. I would had loved to see a new movie about, 5 years ago or so. But now, it just seems way to long and the actors themselves aren't exactly fit or look what they did during the first 2 movies. I would still go see GB 3 if it really is made, I just don't think it really should be made anymore. I have no interest in seeing new actors taking the place of the Ghostbusters. I personally wouldn't mind seeing them make an official sequel to the game(GB SoS doesn't count) and ending it there with the entire cast.

So I ask you. Should GB3 be made? What do you wanna see with it. And if you don't want to see it, you can also say why as well.

p.s
I am aware actors change over 20 years, but have you seen harold Ramis? That guy got big and that beard would look horrible for egon, just saying.

Sadly no.

I just don't see this movie coming even if there is word that they're making it. I'm not interested in seeing all of them as old guys. Like you said, I would have appreciated it if they actually came out with this movie a few years ago.

Now, I'm just not even really going to be interested in it. I doubt that if they do make it, it'll be as good as the previous ones. But, that's just my look at it.

I had no idea this was ghostbusters until the middle part of the first post...

but, also no... I think I'd like to remember the gang as I did, rather then have them possibly ruin the continuity

After the prolonged amount of development hell, and the CONSTANT script re-writes...I'm going to have to say no.

I was never a huge Ghostbusters fan so I'm not that interested. Especially since Bill Murray said he wouldn't be in it. Why can't some things just rest in peace. We all have fond memories of the Ghostbusters we don't need another sequel.

If, after Ramis+Aykroyd said they wouldn't make it if Murray isn't in it, Murray isn't in it, and they want to make it anyway...then...wha...?

If that's the case, they just need to stop and let the franchise die with dignity.

Technically, the Ghostbusters video game that came out acts like the 3rd movie. It has the proper continuity to make it seem like the 3rd movie in the series.

The Real Ghostbusters cartoon acted like a sequel to the 1st film...then the sequel came out and tore that apart.

After that, I pretty much related movie continuity to the films alone.

Last I heard, they were doing it with or without Murray. Ray will have one eye, and Egon's gonna be all fat, so Harold Ramis doesn't have to get back in shape.

It could be good for a few yuks, but I'd rather see it with Murray than without. He's the glue.

My son's big into ghostbusters and he's 4 lol So I've heard bits and pieces about a possible new movie. Last I've heard was that they finally got Murray to sign on so long as he's killed off in the first reel of the film and they apparently did that but made his character a ghost. From what I've read (unless, like the script this has changed again by now) Reimis and Akroyd were aiming to pass the torch to a younger group and they were thinking about getting Ben Stiller as one of those replacements. imo...EEW! I say if you're gonna try and make it work, then look to Nathan Fillion for one of the replacements at least by way of comedy aspects the way Murray had.
All things being equal....as long as they don't do a reboot or for some stupid ass reason a prequel....

- Ivan Reitman Out as 'Ghostbusters' Reboot Director

Sad, particularly under the circumstances, but probably not entirely surprising. I think the time has probably passed, at least for the first gen. I don't know that I've ever been all that interested in a new gen. I guess we'll see:

"As THR reported Feb. 25, Reitman and writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnisky were finalizing the latest draft of the script but the death of Harold Ramis — who co-wrote and starred in the first two films along with Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray and was set for a small role in the third film — required tweaks to the script.

Reitman will remain on the project as a producer and he and the studio hope production on the new film will begin in early 2015. Murray is not expected to reprise his role.

- GHOSTBUSTERS 3: Sigourney Weaver Reveals Her Character’s Son Oscar May be a Ghostbuster; Rick Moranis & Ernie Hudson Speculate on Their Characters

2014 is a good year for Ghostbusters fans: it’s the 30th anniversary of the first film, and just so happens to be the 25th anniversary of the sequel. That’s reason enough for Sony to re-release the original film in theaters this Labor Day weekend just before a new Collector’s Edition Blu-ray hits shelves. All well and good, but what about that long-in-development Ghosbusters 3 we’ve been hearing about? Word has it that the script is still in the works, but franchise star Sigourney Weaver recently revealed a surprise recurring cast member who’s already penciled in for the eventual new film. Hit the jump for more on Ghostbusters 3, including speculation from Rick Moranis and Ernie Hudson about what their own characters have been up to.

Ghostbusters 2 Weaver’s been in the news quite a bit lately, owing in part to the anniversaries of the Ghostbusters films, as well as the original Alien feature. We recently got to talk to her at length about the Alien franchise, but Weaver revealed an interesting tidbit about Ghostbusters 3 in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. In a conversation with screenwriter Ivan Reitman about the film, she said:

“I said, I have one condition want my son Oscar [from Ghostbusters II] to be a Ghostbuster, and he said, ‘We’ve already done that.’”

More in the article. Always fun to hear more, whether it happens, or not.
