*TATTOOS are not a dumb idea, for if you are a spiritually connected person, you usually tend to enjoy the same things in life no matter what age you are. I'll just leave it at that, plain and simple.

I was going to get a dragon done on my whole back(something like Batista's),but my girlfriend talk me out of it.

I want to get a tattoo of a dragon on my arm, but I'm not sure if that's wise. My doctor told me that one in three people with tattoos have some form of hepatitis. So if I do get a tat, it better be at a legitimate, trustworthy place.

Crazy. I have a tattoo of Bastet and Sekhmet facing each other on my left arm. I've never heard of anyone else with a similar design. I also have an Old World-style owl on my right shoulder.

There are only really 2 types of people who get ink.

#1 - Trendy idiots. Some girl walks into a tattoo parlour and gets a tattoo of a butterfly taken right from the wall of the shop just because it looks cute. Some guy walks in that same day and gets a flaming skull tattooed which of course was on the wall because he thinks it looks "bad ass". The examples go on, but they all have atleast 1 thing in common, to them a tatt is just a fashion accessory.

#2 - People like myself, who get tatts for their meaning. Every tattoo I have started as a feeling or thought without a picture to match it, and over time the images fell into place and formed what will eventually be 1 huge piece of work. The meaning and the feeling was there well before the tattoo was there, the tattoo just shows it on the outside in a way that really only I could possibly understand (I could explain it to people and have before, but they'd never just guess the story).

You know the difference between #1 and #2?

#1 will get older, tattoos will no longer be trendy and they'll hate their meaningless piece of shit tattoo that they put maybe a minutes thought into that they picked off a wall based purely on how it looked. Not surprising at all, huh?

#2 will also get older, tattoos will no longer be trendy but they wont care because they were never meant to be for other people anyway (only for themselves). Quite often, years of thought and built up emotions have gone into their tatts and are original designs that only they have. When they're old, even though some of the feelings expressed through their ink may no longer be in them, they were for long enough to warrant the tattoo in the first place and show a period of their life that obviously affected them deeply and are a part of the reason they are the way they are. The feelings can die, but the meaning can't and will always be relevant.

Not everybody is an attention seeking whore who gets ink just so their friends say "OH MI GOD YOU ARE SO KOOL!!!! I WANT 1 2, RITE NOW!!!".

Just so nobody is concerned, my arse isn't in any of the pictures. Somebody thought one of my tatts was on my arse, but it was my bicep from memory (no idea how the 2 got mixed up, heh).

Yes, I'm referring to the hardcore music, along with any other blatant generalizations you make about anything you like. Sure, people get tattoos and hate them later. But that doesn't mean everyone will, and you shouldn't get one now because you will INDEFINITELY hate them later in life. Christ.

I am not going to sit here and try to sway people to get a tattoo or not. It is an individual judgment call that you alone must make for your self. I respect those who make an honest choice either way. The tattoo doesn't make the man, the man makes the tattoo. If you choose, in the end, that it is not for you that's all fine and dandy. But, don't judge those who choose differently and call them "fools". Grey said it right..."it can be a reflection of a personal belief or a spiritual belief that one has." I have had mine for over 8 yrs. I do not regret it, and I am considering more!!!
