If yo haven't seen this movie, you really need to. It kinda reminds me of a cross of George Orwell's novel "1984" and "Dark City". It's got Christian Bale and Taye Diggs and it is just badass. BTW to anybody that has seen it, two words: GUN KATA!

Seen it? Hell... I got that sucker on DVD!
That movie was sweeeet! Too bad mot many people saw it. Maybe when a movie such as this comes out and doesn't get enough press, word of mouth could help it do better at the box office.
It only made $1,203,794.

I loved the Gun Kata theory, however it seemed to have one flaw. The angles of attack that Bale used were within the parameters of people being in specific formations and postures. If the gun Kata is based on imperical studies of gun battles there would have been more instances of people shooting at Bale's legs not just at center mass and at unconventional, according to the Gun Kata philosophy, distances.
The Gun Kata also bases it's assertion that every opponent is of the same skill set with using a weapon. I suppose this is how they got away with the concepts of taking advantage of using predicted angles of attack to allow Bale to be safe from getting shot.
In any event, it was a great movie hands down!

Is one of my all time favorite movies. Me and my friend saw it in the theater and were completely blown away. We counted the days down until the release of it on DVD.
I think the Day I got The DVD was one of the happiest moments of my life.
Movie is fucking amazing. And if those of you who are reading this want to rent it. Don't. Buy it. Save yourself time and money.

I payed 50 bux for the DVD. It's right behind the matrix and Highlander for me. Definetly an amazing movie.
It didn't deserve the backlash it recieved from the critics. I mean with such a low budget they made movie that looks almost as good as a big budget blockbuster. Oh, well...
I'm looking forward to Kurt Wimmer's (The director's) next project with Mila Jovovic. Has something to do with vampires i believe. And he says he's improving Gun Kata in a much more effective way. Because it didn't turn out as he wished in Equilibrium.

Here is some info on "UltraViolet".
Cast Notes: (6/21/03) According to "Variety," screenwriter Kurt Wimmer wrote the role of Ultraviolet specifically for Milla Jovovich after being impressed with her performance in Resident Evil. You can read more about why Wimmer chose Jovovich in his own words in this piece over at CHUD.com (and this one). (10/14/03) According to FilmJerk.com, the other lead role, that of the young boy Violet is protecting, has gone to Cameron Bright, who has a very busy year, also starring in Birth and Godsend.
Director: Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium)
Screenwriter: Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium; cowriter of The Recruit, The Thomas Crown Affair)
Not Based Upon: (6/22/03) Although they share a title and are both about vampires, this movie has nothing to do with the 1998 British TV mini-series called 'Ultraviolet.'
Premise: In the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease, giving them enhanced speed, strength and intelligence, and because they are set apart from ordinary "healthy" humans, societal riffs push the world to the brink of worldwide civil war between the human government and the enhanced diseased populace. Caught in the middle is one such infected woman, Violet (Jovovich), who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy, Six (Bright), who has been marked for death.
Filming: Production is scheduled to start on February 9th, 2004 in Shanghai, China on a budget of $30 million after Milla Jovovich wraps up filming of Resident Evil 2 (which is also being distributed by Screen Gems).

Equilibrium was okay. . . I rented it recently (my brother in law said it was awesome) . . .I think it has something like "Better SFX than the Matrix" on the jacket or something - so my anticipation was a bit high. The concept was pretty cool. Very similar to 1984 or Brave New World if you ask me.
If you like this line of movie, I would definitely tell you to see Existenz (Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law) - awesome movie. . . just plain nuts!

It actually says "FORGET THE MATRIX...This movie will blow you away". Seems kinda lame they'd put that on the cover. But meh.

That's the line. . . I think I would have liked it better without that line on the cover.
