I saw it profiled on G4Techtv's show Pulse. Basically it works as easily a gameshark by just swapping a disk in, but it allows you to use either the PS2 hard drive or an IDE PC hard drive of 40 gbz or bigger to back up enire games to the hard dirve and play them from there. Now I know that it can be used for piracy, but this isn't about pirating game so don't bother trying to bring it up. But it's supposed to speed up the load time on game for the PS2 without having to mod and void the warrenty for the PS2, like what can be done with the xbox. I haven't played a lot of PS2 games as of late, but the ones I have played (WWE Smackdown: Hear Comes the Pain, and the GTA games) have had terrible load times(I couldn't stand playing GTA on the PS2 because the loadtimes just got to me, the controller is certainly better suited for it though over the Xbox. I know the official PS2 hard drive is supposed to speed up load times but that is only for future games that take advantage of it, which most of them don't. Pulse did a comparison test of loading GTA: Vice City off of the cd, and off of the hard drive. It took 1 whole min to load the game off of the cd, while it took :26 seconds to load it off of the hard dirve. They also showed haw much faster the game loads when going in and out of building, saving , and between differnet parts of the city. It looked like the load time was more improved than the Xbox version of GTA.

The companies web site does state that certain game just won't work off of it. I believe the 2 notible timtles are Ratch & Clanck 1, and Soul Calibur 2, but they say their list is not up to date, but it is an official list by them, I guess other sources are reporting more game that don't work with it, but the list they have are confirmed games, by them. Also you can't play games online because just about every online game uses DNAS to check the authenticity of the game before you can connect, and Double Layer Disks don't work either. For somereson they just won't copy to the hard dirve correctly.

I was just wondering what everyone things about this type of peripheral? And does anyone have it that can tell how it is. It certainly seems like a good product to improve the PS2 without voiding the warranty.

I also saw that segment. I think it's a good idea for people who have a very small amount of patience. I, personally, don't mind load times that much. If I did, then I would probably look into this.
